We'd been tipped off on our free walking tour that it was possible to do a tour sometimes of the Parliament Building so returned at 2pm for it. We were taken round by a staff member &, government being in recess due to the imminent elections, the decorators were busy so we viewed the lower house from the upper gallery but in the upper house could walk the floor.
Both are impressive but the overriding impression with which we left was that locals are over-represented!
Both houses are modelled on the UK so it was like seeing the London Houses of Common & Lords in miniature
The architecture throughout is impressive

this is really cool that there is no security around parliament building. lots of photographers taking pics near this building. lots of tourists taking selfies on steps of building. there is only cameras but no securities guard. i had taken nice timelapses here.

Maybe not as elaborate externally as some parliament buildings but very grand and built adjacent to the very interesting old Parliament House that preceded federation.

Tours are conducted most days, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, provided parliament is not in session. See the sign out the front or ask the obliging security people.

Located close to the city's central tourist district, its Rundle Mall shopping district and cultural area.

During a recent visit to Adelaide my husband and I did free tour of Parliament House, it was an extremely hot day so this was a great opportunity to get out of the heat, however, we enjoyed every moment of this tour. The tour is available when parliament is not sitting, our guide actually worked in the parliament when they were sitting so was able to explain all procedures in great detail. There was just 3 on the tour so we moved along but had plenty of time to ask questions and view all the historical information available. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Adelaide.

The South Australian Parliament House is an impressive building with a grand design. Located on North Terrace, it is worth taking a look at, and if you have time consider taking the free tour on offer. There are a number of striking buildings along this stretch of road reflecting a time when fine design was important.
