“Good location”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2012

Meridien is located in a great spot which is easy to move about in the city. Free parking is a bonus but we had to park around the corner on the street as there was no spot empty. Room was clean, king bed & comfortable. Bathroom was ok. We used the pool which was heated & my daughter had a great swim. Family friendly & staff were nice too.

Thank you for your comments about your stay with us. We are glad you found the staff to be helpful as this is one of the things we try hard to instil.

Our location with the ease of both getting into the city and heading out North is one of the things most of our guests comment on.

The rates in certain peak times are certainly higher than the rates you may see at quieter times of the year, which as you pointed out is true of the area as a whole. We try and offer specials throughout the year to make for a comfortable and very affordable stay when possible, including cheaper & sometimes free upgrades to our Executive Studios with king beds.

We hope you enjoyed your visit to Adelaide and that we may see you again.

The hotel is situated on Melbourne Road, which is nice and quaint.
It's also fairly easy to get to via the Metro buses 208--stop at Stop 4 and it's only 10m walk to the hotel. Be wary of using bus 202F and 203F as although it drives past Melbourne Road during weekdays, it does not stop anywhere until it is at Hampden Rd, way out there. It does however make stops after 6pm in the evening. Go figure!
Rooms are clean and quiet but way time for a refurbishment to just give the place a "facelift".
For $204/night on their standard room with queen bed, we thought it was a bit pricey for what we got.
But then again it seems like everything is pricey in Adelaide at this time of the year as there are so many festivals going on.
Staff are nice and friendly though.

A stressful trip with two young children to visit an ill relative in hospital was made worse by two women on reception who chose to treat me in a cold, discourteous and even humiliating manner. Their service seemed grudging; e.g.I was passed over for another guest while waiting for information even though I was waiting first, and when I spoke up, she rolled her eyes as she huffily came over to help me. Never been treated like that any where else. I was a guest under Employers Mutual. If I had been a paying guest, maybe they would have treated me differently.

The room I was allocated proved to have a non-functioning landline and a notice saying I should go to reception if I needed to use a landline. The room was shabby, but I have no complaints about that. If I had paid for this myself, I would have expected a higher standard.

The pool area at the back was quite uncared for and untidy. The hotel itself looked like it could do with a good clean and dust in places. However, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities were functioning (except the phone).

This hotel is not really very suitable for young children, more for adults and older children in my opinion.

We picked this room up on wotif for $109 per night which is great value to say the least. This accommadation is set in a fantastic position. Walking distance to the casino!! The staff were very friendly and helpful, it was a pleasure dealing with them all. From the reception staff to the cleaners everyone was great, and we thank them for that.
Around the corner is a beautiful walking/running/biking track which follows the river Torrens into the city. It is absolutely gorgeous for the morning run. Just beware that there are plenty of bike riders zooming along to work so stay on the correct side coming and going. Most bike riders rang their bell to warn me which I thought was nice of them. Plenty of people said good morning which blew me away, what a wonderful start to the day.
The pool itself is nice but the setting is plonked in the middle of the carpark which is awkward, but what does it matter when all you want to do is cool down, sunbake for little bit and then get on with discovering the beauty of Adelaide.
We can recommend this place without hesitation, the restaurant downstairs is ok. Better to go to "The Store" which is located just down the road.
Almost forgot to mention, the beds are super comfy and the bath and shower are absolutely fantastic, probably the best water pressure of any place I have stayed at.

This is on Melbourne Street which has a good variety of restaurants etc. It has off street parking which is really a necessity in central Melbourne. This seems to be fairly newly built and everything is bright, fresh and modern - although the air-con was not very effective. WE were in a hotel room rather than one of the apartments and it was maybe a bit cramped - but fine for a night.
