We were lucky enough to get upgraded to a penthouse suite on the 19th floor of the Reefview after our AC was defective in our original room.

This hotel was one of the best we've stayed at in Australia.

Large comfortable rooms, amazing large and well appointed toilet with Jacuzzi.

Across the road from the beach and a walk away from all of the essentials of the resort.

At the airport upon arrival we were picked up by Paris the concierge, buggied around the resort and given the royal tour.

We bought our brekky and ate it on our balcony with a view to die for. As a matter of fact we bought some wine and cheese and dinner on our balcony last night.

Hard to want to leave the room even thought this resort is top notch

Arrived on a beautiful Saturday just after lunch. Our rooms were not quite ready (we were before check in) so we decided to sit in the hotel bar and share a few drinks (avg $8 a stubbie). Shortly after we received a phone call from staff advising rooms were good to go...

We were on the 13th floor in a Coral Sea View Room, what a fantastic view...the room was huge and accompanied by a super comfortable king bed. Not much more to say about the room, the balcony was a great place to sit and enjoy an afternoon drink..

Now, someone on here wrote about hiring a cart with a $1500 bond to be returned some time after. We hired a cart for $85 per 24hrs, Time kicks off whenever you pick it up, they do hold a paper swipe of your credit card which is returned to you upon return of the cart. There is also an option of $10 per 24hrs for insurance, highly recommended as from what I was told if your cart is damaged whether you as the driver is not at fault you are still liable for expenses.

The Marina Tavern has a bottle shop underneath, here you can buy a range of wines and CUB beers plus some premix drinks. Reasonable prices, around $10 per carton dearer than the mainland. Not far up from this is the General Store, it stocks the same as any other general store. Some items are priced similar to that here on the mainland and some a little dearer. Another review mentioned something about Schweppes and no Coca Cola products on the island. Plenty of places sell both, however I noticed some do only sell Schweppes products.

We also hired a pram/stroller from the Clown Fish Club at $15 a day...not real flash and are quite grubby..probably a good idea to take your own if you can...

Now back to the hotel, breakfast was included and plentiful....the pools available are clean and awesome.....only way to describe it....non powered water sports are free of charge (part of Reef View)...you have a range of SUP's, catamaran, kayak/canoe, snorkel and windsurfers.

There is not one thing I could complain about the island, every staff member of any section was friendly, polite and easy going. Just about everything can be room charged providing you have your room key.....

As I said, no issues at all from start to finish....we really want to go back.....

Room tip: 10th floor and up

We stayed here for two nights on our way to hayman and what value for money!

The rooms are a little tired but were very clean and the bed was comfortable. We were upgraded from a palm bungalow to a sea view room on lvl 16 and wow that view was a delight to wake up to in the morning.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and quick to respond to special requests. I think we waited about 4 minutes for a sewing kit to be sent to our room. Although the morning of our checkout we had housekeeping knocking at our door on two separate occasions before 10am asking if we were checking out. A little rushed.

Gardens and pools were lovely. Facilities were a little old but the variety had us entertained. We didn't eat at the hotel because the marina had a nice buzz.

We will be staying again.
We recommend hiring a buggy, the island is great driving.

Room tip: Go high up and sea facing.

The hotel is a little overpriced... but then so was everything on the island. The tap water tastes like chlorine, so it would be a good idea to make the bottled water in the rooms complimentary instead of the ridiculous prices they currently are. I went on a business conference so who am I to complain?
Because you're a guest at the hotel the paddleski's are free to hire so that was a bonus!

Room tip: Choose one higher up, you get an amazing panorama of Catseye Beach and get to have a drink with the cockatoos that perch themselves on the balcony every afternoon.

I have stayed in many hotels around the world and I must say the reef view hotel is one of my favourites. I don't know if it's the vibe I get from hamilton island or not but whenever I see the reef view I just get very excited as it brings back many good memories. This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel and I must say the corner room which I had this time around on level 15 was amazing. The layout of the room was excellent with the king bed facing the ocean views (as opposed to my other room on level 12 which had two beds facing the wall of the room).

The only let down in the room for me was the aging bathroom, the roof was starting to go black and it felt a little outdated. Also the air conditioning unit started to make some weird noises at night which kept me awake (possibly some upgrading required).

This was the only problem for me, the rest of the room is excellent, the service is great and I absolutely love the free WIFI in the lobby as a result of my carrier only being in ROAMING meaning I would have to pay lots of money to use internet otherwise.

I highly recommend this hotel if you have a bit of cash hanging around (in saying this, if you have the money I would probably prefer Qualia due to its exclusivity and peacefulness), or if money is an issue for you maybe look at the palm bungalows or the reef view apartments.

Room tip: Try get a room on the upper floors e.g 10 and above and request rooms from 12 onwards so that you are in the building which sticks out further closer to the beach/pool (better views). 1512 is an excellent room and will request that next time I visit.
