Pink Flamingo is a gem. I travel often as a single male on business. Frequently have to stay in boring cookie cutter hotels, even those at the high end of the scale. When traveling on my own I seek out the unusual and the funky. Pink Flamingo was absolutely one of my best stays. Its climate fits the Port Douglas area. It is warm and sensual and a place where you feel comfortable and free. Sam and Lee are friendly, helpful and fun to be around. They helped with booking tours and were always on hand when you need them. The rooms are incredible if you like the offbeat. Full bedroom, kitchen and bath but the real pleasure is the very private outdoor huge tub and shower. Feels just like bathing in the rainforest...would look forward to staying again in a heartbeat...great job Sam and Lee...you thought of everything..Stan

Recently returned from a four night stay at the Pink Flamingo. It is hard to believe this lovely place was once an 80's motel. The accomodation is brightly coloured and clean. Sam is to be credited on the gardens which are truely beautiful and colourful. Sam and Lee are both helpful and friendly and great for helping to arrange trips etc. This accomodation would be great for those seeking a romantic getaway however, is also ideal for those seeking reasonably priced accomodation in a beautiful setting. I stayed in one of the studios and loved it.
The walk into town takes about 15 minutes where you will find many places to eat. The beach is about ten minutes walk and beautiful. I would recommend a visit to the lookout point. The views are worth the climb to get there.

My friend and I stayed with the Pink Flamingo for three nights in August and had a great experience. The property is beautiful and the rooms are adorably decorated in cheerful, tropical colors. There is a lovely pool and nice gardens, in addition to lots of homey facilities like a small library of books and movies, plus laundry machines.

Sam and Lee were so helpful in setting up day-trips and giving advice on arranging our plans. The Pink Flamingo is a quick walk to Four Mile Beach and a pleasant stroll into town. If you're a hurrier, they have bikes for loan, which make getting around town very quick and easy. Port Douglas itself was charming and lovely - far better than our stay in Cairns. I recommend anyone visiting this area stay in Port Douglas at the Pink Flamingo! The rates are an amazing deal given the lovely vacation you will have here.

We spent four days in one of the one bedroom villas at the Pink Flamingo in Port Douglas and really loved it. The villas are brightly coloured and although they are basic, they do have everything that you need.
Be aware that there is no door between the bedroom and the living / cooking area - it is all very open plan with no blinds onto the private courtyard (not that you need blinds as no-one can see in).
The pool is great and the bar area is BYO. They also have great little touches like a free DVD and CD library, and free use of the laundry.
Location is fine for the beach (5 mins walk) and about 25 mins into the Port Douglas village (there's also a shuttle if you don't fancy the walk).
The resort is gay orientated so you do need to feel comfortable with this as people tend to socialise by the bar in the evening whilst they BBQ and drink.
All in all, I would recommend this to my friends as a great place to stay.

The Pink Flamingo was a great choice for our stop in Port Douglas. It was private, quiet and has everything you need. It is just an easy 5 minute bike ride into town. The staff is very helpful with excellent recommendations for activities and food.
