Room spacious and clean, great location spoilt by overall shortfalls and poor service.
WiFi unavailable in rooms for the week we were there, excuses from the weather to service outs were false as got elsewhere. Water in bathroom on floor not rectified - excuse humidity. Overall building in need of TLC

Room Tip: Don't accept a room facing Macrossan Street

Firstly we would like to address the WiFi issue you mentioned and it has been an ongoing problem for the resort as Port Douglas is a regional area the WiFi is not as fast as you would expect in a major city and can be intermittent at times. With the new NBN works taking place in the area at the moment we hope this will improve the WiFi experience for everyone. After your call to reception the manager did test the access point fro the WiFi close to your apartment and it indeed faulty and was replaced and tested with you by the manager.
Last week was a very wet week in Port Douglas with our first heavy rain early in the season, there was some leaking into your bathroom from the flooded hallway outside during the unprecedented rainfall that caused flooding throughout the region.
We thank you for your time to review your stay and trust you enjoyed your stay in Port Douglas.

We stayed for two nights and booked a 1-bedroom apartment. The main room is a lovely size and contains a Queen bed and corner lounge and a small balcony that has the well equiped kitchenette out there, a good size bathroom off this room with bath & separate shower. Then a separate OK size bedroom with tiny en-suite.
Staff were lovely and the room was fine, although tired here and there (similar walking around the resort). The kitchenette and balcony table/chairs were too small & squeezy to suit the 4 pax the apartment is designed to fit, but for two of us was fine. We had no view and people on the courtyard opposite looking into our room, so had to close the shutters on the balcony for privacy. The beds were huge timber things with the most uncomfortable mattress (the one in the lounge room we used on the second night was not quite as bad as the one in the bedroom). The new TV in the bedroom was at a very dangerous angle and in the way of the wardrobe door, so had to be moved to open the door then moved again so that you didn't hit your head and take out an eye or something walking past. They only provide basics then you do have to pay for extras (tea/coffee, tiny milk pods, etc), you also have to pay if you want to use a pool towel. Our room was looking into the resort so we were glad we were not overlooking Macrossan St, as that would have been very noisy with the Iron Bar & Pub opposite. But the location is great for all the bars & restaurants, shops, markets etc. Worth it if you get a good price, but wasn't worth the price we paid - however when Port Douglas is busy they get away with charging high prices. I would go back and stay in a room with a different bed, but would never sleep on those timber slat beds again. The bedroom was really, really noisy - apparently due to a temporary air-conditioning unit as the main air-con was being serviced (so a sign said), so our first night we got little sleep with the noise (which finally went off) and the dreadful bed. Night 2 on the bed in the main room was better but still an awful bed and lots of noise from revellers on the patio & balconies around us. The pool is very nice and also a little undercover lounge area called the library. Above the pool was a nice area with tables & chairs if you wanted to it out there in the sun.

Hi CairnsGirl25,
Thank you for taking the time to write your review and for your feedback.
The temporary air-conditioning has been removed and our normal system is running perfectly.
We agree that our location in the centre of Port Douglas is hard to beat with everything on your doorstep and glad to hear you relaxed at our beautiful tropical pool area.
Thanks again from the Club Tropical Team.

Our visit was our third in as many years. The property is ideally located near quality restaurants and within walking distance of attractions.
The simple fact is this resort is on urgent need of maintenance and an upgrade in the quality of suite fittings. We had to request a plug for the kitchen sink because there was none when we arrived (we noticed at our first washing up session).
We asked for wifi access, but none was available in our room. I was told the owner was looking into the problem, but three days later we still had no room wifi.
Would we return next year? Probably yes, but only for the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the sea. The option is one overlooking the main street and a very loud hotel across the street.

Hi John,
Thank you for your review and we hope that you did enjoy your stay.
Apologies for the lack of Wi-Fi while you were here. We do sometimes have trouble getting the signal reaching all corners of the rooms due to the thick cyclone proof walls. Wi-Fi is normally very good in the common areas so we are sorry we didn't communicate that. We are working on increasing the number of repeaters in the building to try to strengthen the signal.
Please give us a call to take advantage of our VIP return guest rates.
Thanks again from the Club Tropical Team.

Not sure if this is the norm but less than impressed with this 'resort'. Very tired and in need of some upkeep, limited or no wi-fi, no room servicing, no new towels, had to buy toilet paper and not overly clean. That being said Heather at reception lovely though and good location. Stay again? Probably not.

Thank you for sharing your review of Club Tropical Resort.
As a self contained style of accommodation we do include a starter pack of amenities on arrival which is standard and a mid stay service is offered for stays of 8 or more nights. Guests are welcome to pay for additional apartment servicing if they so wish during their stay and our housekeeping team will schedule this as requested. Extra amenities and towels can be purchased from reception 7 days a week and the resort also has a coin operated guest laundry on site if need be.
We will be sure to pass your kind comment on the Heather.
Thank you for your time and review.

2 star at best, no ovens, cleaning bucket broom and mop in your one piddly cupboard that is meant to store a family of four clothes!!! All fittings covered in rust. They put me in Sea Breeze room which is a one bedroom partitioned off to create second room leaving you a living area of 3m by 3.5 doesn't even seat 4. Appalling, ruined my holiday!! Plenty of other places in great location for cheaper rates..... DO NOT BOTHER!!!!
