Description: For a long while Hi Tide Cafe, Bar, Restaurant has been a local's secret, and no wonder because this is as close to a beachfront hideaway as it gets in the middle of Port Douglas. Indeed, if you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Macrossan Street and enjoy a home style meal or one of our nightly specials, a cocktail or cool beer with the soft sea breeze the tide will bring you here. Nestled oceanside in the Peninsula Boutique Hotel. Hi Tide looks directly out onto 4 Mile Beach and the Coral Sea. It's cool without being over designed, warm and welcoming without sacrificing a certain sophistication and, well, they have the most amazing cocktail selection.

This is a bar/cafe/restaurant that is open all day and is in a great location. It is at the far end of Macrossan Street looking out to sea over Four Mile Beach. We had breakfast here a couple of times, the food and fruit juices were very good, the service was friendly and efficient, and it was lovely sitting there at the start of the say looking out to sea. As it is at the far end of Macrossan Street it is in a quieter location than many of the other bars, cafes and restaurants in Port Douglas and would be a good place for a quiet lunch or dinner, or a sundowner at the end of the day, or if you need some respite from the strain of lying on the beach.

Absolutely delicious! I ordered the watermelon, lemongrass, and mint crush. I could drink one of these everyday. The chef was kind enough to make a beautiful, filling, and top notch salad for me since I’m vegan and nothing on the menu fit the bill. My husband had fish and chips and the iced chocolate and was very happy with his choices. The wait staff was super friendly and accommodating and when they learned I was vegan they offered a variety of restaurant recommendations with good vegan options. Nice views of the beach from the seats outside as well. We are very happy that we happened upon this place when leaving the beach in search of a lunch spot.

Visited this restaurant because of the good reviews however were very disappointed with the food we received. Probably the worst food we have eaten since being in port doulas. I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse which had very little taste/ seasoning - bland was putting it lightly. My friend had the fish of the day which was dry and overlooked- she couldn't eat it. The staff however were lovely and enthusiastic, cocktails also good. I'd suggest just go for a drink and skip the food

We returned to Hi Tide after a 12 month sabbatical to find it a great experience. The food was exceptional - soy mustard marinated tuna, sesame crusted prawns, seafood bouillibaise, reef cod with crushed peas and potato, and coconut passionfruit pannacotta. All truly delicious.
Wadged it down with an amazing Californian 2014 chardonnay from Monterey - 2014. Lovely.
Staff were great from the hotel management and especially our waitress, Kim.
A great meal and we will definitely be back.
Loved it.

Had a lovely meal here. The food was very good and the service friendly and efficient. Staff were great at helping us with the menu as there were fish we hadn’t encountered before. We really enjoyed the barramundi and Spanish mackerel (a delicate white fish). The restaurant has glimpses of the sea which was lovely as we arrived just before sunset. Outside tables can be cold so take a jumper as the protective screen doesn’t always come down!
