We were cramped for time and thought we would have the opportunity to snorkel on the great barrier reef and "fell for" the advertising of Great Adventures and took their ferry to Green Island.
There is no redeeming aspect to this place. The beach is very restricted and if one does not arrive on the beach very soon after the first ferry in the am one does not have the opportunity to pay the requisite $40 for two beach chairs and an umbrella.
There is no control on how many people travel to the island each day and when we were there there were hundreds of people "crawling" all over the island and the beach and swimming area.
Any idea of snorkelling is a fantasy. There are so many people in the swimming area that one spends more time avoiding fins that watching for fish. We swan the whole swimming area and out at least 800 meters and saw maybe 10 rather ho-hum fish: no colour. We spoke to others and one had seen two turtles and one had seen a very small shark.
The cost of food is exorbitant and the food is, at most, pedestrian.
We feel we were ripped off and recommend ever coming to this place.
