“Great Location and affordable play to stay”
Reviewed 26 February 2012

A lovely hotel in a very convenient location in Cairns. Easy access to airport, and walking distance to beach, shops, etc. Front desk staff and friendly. Room very clean and tidy and we had a lovely balcony with a view towards to the water and over the esplanade. Would recommend this hotel

Great location, right in the thick of it all. This is an older style mantra, the rooms are a bit more dated in the decor however they are big and clean. Unfortunately the balcony was very small and overlooked a pub, also had the air conditioning units were out there so it wasn't very pleasant to sit outside. There was a fair bit of noise at night as well. The hotel has a nice pool and fairly well equipped gym. I was surprised that the rooms are not serviced unless you stay for more than 8 nights - a change of towels and garbage removal every couple of days should have been included in the price. The staff were friendly enough. I was happy but not overjoyed by my stay here. As far as the mantra chain goes, it could definitely do with a spruce up.

Stayed 7 nights 8 days between Jan and Feb. Travelled with a 8.5 month old,. First impression of Hotel was great. The Hotel provides trolleys and those you dont travel light suggest that you use it as you will need get any help with any porters. Staff at the reception were welcoming. No issues,
We stayed on the 6th floor room 625. Its a one bedroom appartment facing the amazing lagoon, Getting into the room was a challenge. The way the its set up is just ridiculous esp with the amount of luggage we had and a child. Basically you arrive at your door and once opened your greeted with another two doors. Dont bother trying to fit that trolley through at it was a real challenge just trying to get it through the 2 doors.you literally have to hold both doors open.
The room presented was clean and tidy. If you stay over 5 nights your room is cleaned free of charge. We were in the room when the maid came to clean. so it was a quick in and out. I wasnt impressed with the bin liners that they use or how many they give (2) they are so thin that once they are lifted frm the bin itself it breaks and your left cleaning all the rubbish from the floor again.
This hotel is across the road from Maccas and a nightclub. So do not count on having a good nights sleep if that is what your afterl Our first night we were blessed witht he presence of drunken people at midnight. Just going up and down the street. A police station is located across the street but is closed. The area isnt at all closely monitored,. Saturdays nights are the worse for this. There is a busker on the cnr and he doesnt stop playing till 9pm.
The Pillows are uncomfy. They use a pillow protector which makes it feel hard. The bed itself is soft. If you want darkness in your room, dont count on it as light can still filter through.
We noticed there are tiny little ants (can hardly see them) so make sure any food brought is kept in a container or bag and placed in the fridge. The coffee supplied is terrible.
Woolworth is just across the road from the hotel but doesnt open till 8am. IGA is open at 6am, but a few streets back so bit of walk if you need something in a dash
The cafe down stairs dont allow any food or drink as take away.. so we never brought anything from there at all.
Husband tried the spa and said it was freezing, your better off going to the lagoon instead;
Location is excellent. Your across the road from the lagoon and your in direct line for the cafe/entertainment. Sadly if your want peace and quiet dont choose it as you will not get it if your placed in a room pacing the ocean
Its a nice hotel if your after location, but I personally wouldnt stay here again as i much prefer quieter place and is easy to get in out f the room when travelling with baby

Room Tip: Ask for 625 its the room facing the the lagoon. So if you were to look at the hotel from the exteri...

Uncomfortable beds, lumpy pillows and above a pub. If you value your sleep do not stay here. The room was average for what it was and not very clean. Cutlery and plates supplied had been used before and not cleaned before being put away. The pool was dirty with bandaids floatng in it mould around the interior and so dirty people had inscribed their names in the grime. I tried to speak to the front staff about my issues the girl did not care. . Does not have full kitchen facilities as expressed on the hotel website not equipped to handle a long term stay.

Dear NGibbs, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. It disappoints me to hear of the shortcomings you have reported from housekeeping and staff attitude. This is certainly not up to our usual standard, and has been addressed with staff. Once again my apologies for your less than ideal stay with us.

Stayed for four nights January 2012
Had a one bedroom ocean view apartment. Great views from balacony.Prime location for watching the bat exodus in the evening.
Wink restaurant has stunning food and service
The pool is not very big so can be a bit crowded. No sun umbrellas either so i wouldn't pick this hotel if you intend to spend loads of time by pool. However for me this was perfect and the public esplanade lagoon is right outside anyway.
Could not get the in house movies on the TV and the airconditioning in the lounge was stuck on 16 degrees.I did not mention to staff however but im sure they would have sorted it if i did bother as they provided superior customer service whenever i went to the desk.
Have marked down the sleep quality as found the bed uncomfortable

Room Tip: Ocean side is lovely
