A last moment suggestion by the daughter saw us call into a Teppanyaki Bar in Newmarket on Newmarket Road. Quite close to us really. They fitted us in around the Barbeque and were immediately struck with how noisy it is, but this was laughter from some others that were being treated to various entertainment from the Chef. This is the great thing with Teppanyaki Bars, is that you are not just watching a Chef cook in front of you, but it is how they cook. From flipping egg at you whether raw or cooked or making you catch your rice, be prepared to literally have egg on your face. I have seen some superbly skilled Chefs in Adelaide and Melbourne and have yet to come across many in Brisbane. You can describe the ones here as up and coming. Not totally skilled at all the tricks, but practice makes perfect.
What was just as important was the food which tasted fantastic. You have a choice of many different set menus with small serves delivered as you go, and they are reasonably priced too. Whether it was fish, prawns, beef or chicken, all of it including the rice was delicious. You can have A la Carte if you want too. Also the place is BYO so you can keep the costs right down and if you forget to bring something, there is a Liquor store next door. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I hope this venue is successful. I would still suggest booking ahead.
If you want a different experience with Japanese food which is entertaining and tasty, you must try this place.

Enjoyed the experience with a large group for a family dinner. The Chef was very accomodating of our group and went all out to ensure we had a fun night. Lots of food options and all the ones we tried were cooked beautifully.

We've been here a few times now. Good to go with friends and our kids love going there too. Food is really good and the staff make for a very enjoyable night out with plenty of interaction and food being thrown and caught all over the place!

Went there for our Grandsons Birthday and my daughter who has been there on a previous occasion said their experience was very good. However nobody told her to make sure when you book ask for experienced chef as it is also a little show with the chef throwing food at you, clicking knives, salt & pepper shakers etc. Well we had a young asian lady chef which I think was a trainee and was quite boring. The way the seating is arranged the chefs are literally working back to back with the experienced chef cooking and showing off his skills on the opposite side from us. Our chef did not get us involved and we were more interested in looking at the experienced chef than ours. Its a bit of a pity because our daughter was so excited about us all going there but only if she knew to ask for the experienced chef we would have had lots of fun. It is BYO Wine & Beer. The food is mediocre and nothing fantastic but it is something different as long as you ask for an experienced chef.

Food was very good, chefs were hilarious as you would expect from a teppanyaki restaurant. Very theatrical! On first glance we were a bit concerned as the restaurant looked very dingy, HOWEVER, once you are in there, the food and service makes up for aesthetics. Wonderful experience and look forward to going back.
