My husband, daughter and myself stayed for 3 nights last week. We were on the executive level on the top floor. The room was lovely, very clean. A little outdated but still lovely. All staff were outstanding. Especially Shanie serving at breakfast. The buffet breakfast was excellent. One of the best I have ever had. The hotel is located just behind the river and a short walk to bus and ferry stops. The only negative thing about the hotel is that the executive level lounge was disappointing. Old style dark furniture and extremely crowded. You were lucky to get a seat. Cheap wine and average food served. I believe they are renovating executive level in April which is needed and hopefully will align it with the quality of the rest of the hotel.

We did thoroughly enjoy our stay at the hotel and do recommend it. Excellent location, value for money, service and buffet breakfast.

We stayed here over new years and booked an executive level twin bedroom with views of the river. The room was really old, and the carpet needed renovating. The view was so so - most was blocked by other high rises which is not Marriott's fault.
The good thing was the breakfast and seafood buffet, really lovely!
The staff was really rude! One of the staff in the breakfast area walked up to my mother and asked her: "Don't you get tired of eating here everyday? are you really going to eat that much?". I think it's really offensive and rude for staff to judge the guests as of how much they are eating and what they are eating. This is NOT Marriott hospitality. The cleaning ladies clean the whole room from floor to glass ware with the same towel - it was disgusting and they didn't refill the toiletry amenities everyday and when my mum asked they snapped at her.
So therefore it receives a 2 star rating. Very sad.
The limousine driver who picked us up, and dropped us off at the airport was really nice!

Room Tip: Executive floor, river view

A family friendly hotel at a good price with fair sized rooms and a great restaurant in the lobby - the staff were friendly and helpful and the pool is great overlooking the city! Great facilities and environment, close walk to most things.

Room Tip: Go for River view if you can - Story Bridge view if you can get it is great!

Entered Australia via Brisbane. More of a transit stop to visit Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. My wife and I Arrived tired and jet lagged after 20 hours of transit and were promptly given an early check in with an upgrade. The room was large, not contemporary but luxurious nevertheless.
The concierge was very knowledgeable and helpful and gave us useful tips to travel around. The housekeeping and room service was prompt and were a step ahead in delighting us. Some of the staff at the cafe was very caring and attentive.

All in all a pleasant stay much better than expected. Small areas of improvement would be the dining options. The staff at the dinner serving in the cafe could be trained better to be more understanding

Such an ordinary experience but the hotel was probably thrilled - absolutely packed with families on holiday but this makes it difficult for frequent hotel users looking for peace and quiet. Chose the Marriott for a weekend birthday because of Platinum elite status and looking to enjoy the lounge and pool but the schoolyard atmosphere lessened the appeal.
Went to the pool for a cool off but being dive bombed by some 20 or 30 kids wasn't as much fun for me as them.
The lounge is one of the poorer quality ones in Australia, dark, cramped, too many tables and chairs in a small room, poor light and poor design had no appeal.
The hotel says canapes and drinks start at 5.30 but in reality, they only start setting up the tables at 5.31 and it takes them some 10 minutes for setup.
Obviously the same families know how it works and the tables have been commandeered by 5.15 and the food (very poor quality) goes within minutes.
Clearly it is great for families who can have a cheap dinner in the lounge but if this is the norm, then I would look for more modern design focussed hotels like the Emporium, Alex Perry, Johnson for future trips.
The rooms here are not spacious and have little appeal.
As an aside on a trivial level, be aware that the parking is at the rear and not just "round the corner" as the front desk advised me - could easily finish up in the river.
The location though by the river is one of the better features, only minutes from the river walk and very close to Eagle Street restaurants.

Room Tip: higher rooms have a better river view
