Stayed for three nights as a family of four in a double room. Apart from being a bit cramped (though this was our choice) it was a lovely room, well appointed, and the resort overall was great. We used the Desert Garden restaurant for breakfast which was a buffet but we thought was excellent, and our kids loved. There is plenty of choice for evening meals, though not all of them open early enough for a family to eat before the evening tours (eg stargazing, field of lights) which was a little frustrating. But the range and quality of restaurants was great. In addition the range of experiences was good including ones for family such as stargazing, dot painting, field of lights. The only negative for us was the pool not being heated and so far too cold to use in July. And yes it is expensive but given it is the only option near Uluru I think it could have been a lot worse, and as one staff member pointed out (for other reasons) the resort is closer to the international space station than it is to any other major town, so we weren't too surprised costs were higher

Truly serene and well manicured gardens. Great rooms; spacious, private & quiet. We attended Tali Wiru dining experience - a fantastic feast: combined indigenous foods and fine Australian produce. Highly recommend.

My husband, 3 kids & I stayed at Desert Gardens this week & we found it a really comfortable base for exploring the national parks around!! We found everything we needed in the resort or the town square. The kids also loved playing pool and other games while my husband & I relaxed at the Pionner Outback after a day of exploring!! Thanks for helping to make our family holiday to Uluru/Kata Tjuta an enjoyable one.

Disappointed with the hotel room. Mould on the tiles & the toilet had stains in it. The bath thingy was loose. This place should be 3 stars. Meriton is much nicer & cheaper. And if you do decide to stay here, ask for a room closer to the reception for easy access. Shops are not far for nice lunches.

This hotel anywhere else would pass for a 3 Star Coach holiday resort - a typical Novotel! But because we were late and individual tourists we got ripped off with more than A$ 600 a night for a Double room which faced on to a untarred patch that was used by the hotel clerks to collect and deliver luggage. Thus you could not sit on the terrace because of the red dust cloud that embraced you each time the car went passed. In the shower there was mould and the service was poor. The first night we eat in the restaurant, the second night we got sent away because they were fully booked for the night!
It seems to be company policy to take advantage of guests wherever possible - they succeeded with us - but they will never see us again!
