My party of 4 ate here 2 morning and 2 dinners. The kids loved the desert chocolate fountain. The service was fast and friendly.

Thank Shaun B

Had some very good meals in Ilkari Restaurant. The staff were very helpful and efficient. The buffet breakfast was excellent. And all of the seating is very comfortable. Thank you.

Firstly, to qualify myself, I am an overweight eating machine with decades of buffet experience all over the world.

Buffets and silver service don't go together well so don't expect quality service. It didn't happen whilst I was there.

This is the most expensive buffet I have ever been to. The next was the Bellagio Buffet in Las Vegas which was far, far superior but that's the difference in levels of competition in the local market.

The menu can be variable and there was no sushi or sashimi on my visit.

Service is slightly below average.

Quality is typical buffet fare. This is not "fine dining".

Most of your average RSL/CLUB buffets in Australia will have similar fare of greater variety between $20-$30.

Interactive menu is just gimmicky. This is more just a way to prevent wastage of more expensive food items.

Don't touch the chocolate fountain. Just google it and you'll see why.

I could go into each individual food item but that would be pointless. Tinned or processed/frozen food and poorly, quick cooked everything else. A slight twist on normal buffet items to give it a more expensive or exotic feel but nobody is being fooled. Local/bush tucker ingredients are included also. Food was well presented.

Atmosphere is your typical buffet/cafeteria but well presented. Fairly clean, cloth napkins, etc.

Beverage menu is adequate but not comprehensive.

Depending on your overall budget for your visit to Uluru, I'd say give it a go but go to The Bough House first. You're getting fleeced everywhere else here so why not at Ilkari? Just don't go in with high expectations that match the price.

TIP: The best way to get your money's worth is to head straight for the more expensive items first. In Australia at the moment that would be lamb cutlets, salmon, prawns/shrimp, oysters, more expensive cheeses, olives, sun dried tomatoes, etc. Stay away from carb fillers such as rice, pasta and potatoes or anything spicy that might bloat your stomach ;-)

We only had breakfast here, but there is pretty much anything you could want in the buffet (except cook to order food). It was hot & fresh food. Staff served coffee & tea.
