Took a day trip from Alice Springs with Mark from Sandrifter Safaris - what a beautiful Homestead - owners are very welcoming and showed us around the homestead - served a lovely homemade lunch and swam in the beautiful mineral pool - Would highly recommend a visit and would love to stay at the Homesteaad

The Hale River homestead is a wonderful place to chill and enjoy the serenity of the Centralian outback. The drive from Alice Springs takes you through amazing country, from rocky gorges in the East MacDonnell ranges to open plains. We saw lots of wildlife such as perenties, wedgetail eagles, kangaroos and donkeys. The homestead is a family-run, farm stay with a beautifully appointed, historic house as its luxury accomodation. The huge new, sparkling pool is just what you need at the end of a hot day. Also has a campground for caravans and campers. There is a great communal bar, kitchen etc for socialising which has amazing Territorian-styled bush artifacts and antiques. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a fabulous place to travel to for a day trip or longer. You’ll see a spectacular, unique side of Central Australia!

We made the trip from Alice today for lunch at Hale River Homestead and were greeted at the car by Sophie and BJ who noticed we had had a flat tyre on the way in as we had a useless space saver tyre on the car.
We were shown in and offered a cold drink and something to eat.
We had the most amazing hamburgers with the works.
After lunch BJ asked for my punctured wheel to see if he could fix it while we had a chat with Sophie.
We then had a walk around the grounds and a look at their accommodation.
Next time I’m in Alice I will be sure to make the effort to stay here as it looks fantastic.
After our walk around BJ had fixed our tyre ready for us to change before hitting the road back to Alice.
I can’t recommend this family and homestead enough.
Make the effort and head out even if it’s only for lunch.

Thanks Gordon for your kind words. We are glad you enjoyed your lunch with us on your East Macs road trip! Your patronage is appreciated and in true 'Outback Hospitality' BJ could not let you drive off with that tyre! I will pass on your gratitude. Hope to see you on your next journey to the Red Centre.

As a large organised group of 12 hot, sweaty motorbikers we camped within the grounds with our swags. The toilet and shower facilities were great and the hosts most welcoming. The rooms and rental apartments looked very special indeed. We visited their bar in the evening, with its relics from the past and were educated about the area and farming background of our hosts. Other guests that we saw eating there appeared to be very well looked after. In the morning it rained as we were packing up and the various verandahs and shelters helped us to keep our kit dry before setting off. A great place and well worth searching out.

Thanks Dobby for your review. What a surprise it was to have 12 motor bikers from all over the world just drop in! It was our pleasure to put you all up for the evening and we are glad that you enjoyed your time at Hale River Homestead. Next time a bit longer perhaps!

We were looking for a weekend escape from Alice Springs to celebrate our anniversary and found absolute perfection at Hale River. The owners - Lyn, Sean, Sophie, BJ and young David make you feel part of the family from the moment you arrive, and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. We treated ourselves to a night in the Gen Shed and were blown away by the gorgeous room and beautiful surroundings. A hidden gem - we are looking forward to finding an excuse to come again!
