My local smoked meats and brisket place, relaxed atmosphere, hearty servings and a fusion of both Americana, Australiana and art work adorning the walls with cable sports screened on tv.

If the harder stuff is your tipple, quench your thirst with one of the many tap ales, lagers, ciders and heady brews or perhaps a cocktail.

The specials board has always something tasty to offer at lunch and dinner. On weekends get in early as the All day American BBQ can sell out real quick.

The brisket does melt on your tongue and if you are lucky the burnt ends are full of flavour!

Burgers, Sandwiches and little bites also offer the perfect way to ease into Surly's

Why not give Surly's a try and see for yourself why dedicated smoked bbq fans come back.

This is hands down the best BBQ joint in Sydney! Authentic Carolina style pork BBQ.

Went for the pulled pork, stayed for the pork ribs!

Carolina pork burger is also exceptional!

Tried to go a few weeks ago but they were shut for staff training and cleaning the smoker. Was a little disappointing as I did go on their website and didn't it mention anything out of the ordinary.

But then a few days ago we were in the area and were really feeling the bbq pangs.. so we dropped in! Service was quick and friendly, we got a picnic table up the back. The wings were very tasty. Brisket was soft and the beef rib was delightful! The only thing is that for 26 bucks it´s a single rib so keep that in mind. Cocktails a little exxy but nicely made. Not too keen on the cornbread.

Overall great experience!!

Possibly the rudest staff in Sydney. I'm not sure if they are putting on an act to keep up with the American theme, but the staff in general are obnoxious and will treat you like you are an inconvenience to their busy day.

We were a large group wanting to have some drinks at the bar before our booking time. But despite having a fully staffed bar with cash registers and all, they flatly refused to allow us to pay for our drinks separately, meaning we all had to go through the table bill at the end of the night and remember who had what.

One waitress eventually demanded that we leave the bar area and head to our table (which wasn't even booked for another half hour) and kept pressuring is to order our meals, despite being fully aware we were still waiting for half our party to arrive.

As one member of our party arrived, he was even scolded by a waitress who didn't like how long he was taking to decide on what beer he would like to order. Shete ended up storming off after 30 seconds of him looking at the menu.

The food was brilliant. My hat goes off to the chef, but he or she is being seriously let down by the front of house staff. If it weren't for the terrible wait staff, this place would be deserving of 5 stars.

Had the chopped brisket sandwich which was outstanding and returned for the bbq ribs ( which are1/2 price on Wednesdays) that were delicious and this is coming from someone visiting from Texas where we know our bbq. Chris the bartender and Jazmine the server, made us feel very welcomed. Did not leave Sydney, without stopping by to say good bye to them because of their awesome friendliness. A must visit place to enjoy good bbq, conversation and beer!
