“Yummy food”
Reviewed 25 February 2012

Our son and his family took us to this restaurant for my husband's and my birthdays, along with our 22 month grandson. We were all made to feel very welcome and my grandson had a lot of fuss made over him and the staff treated him so well... As they did the rest of us. A number of Sydney restaurants in the city tend to shudder a little when they see a toddler...Neptune Palace didn't...thank you.

Now the food...it was very nice and beautifully served, with a gentle recommndation that we just might have ordered enough food haha. We took the waiters advice and he proved correct...we had plenty for 4 with 2 entrees and 4 mains and boiled rice and braised Chinese vegetables.

The Salmon with Tumeric was the pick of the night, closely followed by the salt and pepper prawns, the soft shell crab deep fried with butter milk and the lightly curried chicken.

BE AWARE that the chilli oil they pop on the table is HOT +++ but oh so tasty.

Wine was what you would expect to pay for in a city restaurant.

All in all a very pleasant evening and we hope to make it back again in the near future.

“Pricey”
Reviewed 30 October 2011

Pricey, however decent Chinese halal food at CQ. We might not have eaten there if not for my child wanting to eat Chinese food.

“Above-Average Chinese Seafood, High Prices”
Reviewed 16 September 2009

The elegant setting and pleasant (even friendly) staff made our dinner here memorable. The food, though, was just above average -- nothing remarkable -- and the prices (even for fine-dining Chinese) were quite high, especially for food of this caliber.

That said: the joint makes for a pleasant break from the more touristy eateries along Circular Quay. If you're just too tired to walk over to the Rocks (to, say, Sailor Thai), stopping here will do just fine.

“Hiding in the Gateway Building at Circular Quay”
Reviewed 11 September 2009

Don't try to find it on Pitt str. The place is actually upstairs in a Gateway Tower, on a corner of 1 Macquarie Place and Pitt.

Having worked in Gateway building, we often went out here to eat. My partner loved having quiet chat over a nice meal after work.

Our favourites were Salt and Pepper Prawn, Live Coral Trout steamed with Ginger and Shallot, and a well-prepared Tom Yum Soup (yet a little expensive).

“Lovely Food and Staff”
Reviewed 10 March 2009

Excellent for Chinese and Malayan food.

Went on two consecutive nights which we hardly ever do. Superb staff - very friendly abd helpful - authentic food - busy top floor restaurant (do not be put off by lack of people on the lower floor or by the location which is a bit hidden away)
