Great views of the harbor as you cruise slowly out into the ocean. We saw whales immediately. Lots of them. We also spotted seals. It was truly a day to remember. Guides were very informative. I booked the afternoon three hour cruise on the large ship. No issues booking the day of. If you get there early, you will have your first choice of seats, but don't worry if you don't. Once whales are sighted, the ship more or less stops and everyone moves around. There are no assigned seats. If you sit up top, definitely bring sunscreen. Even on this large ship, take dramamine if you are prone to sea sickness. Leaving from Sydney Harbor, as opposed to Darling, is a direct trip to the Ocean. I purchased the professional photographs on a USB drive. Snacks and beverages are available onboard. Loved it!

I went out on the fast boat twice over the last two weeks and both trips we have had whales breaching next to the boat, the captain was very knowledgable and fun and ensured that you had the best trip possible.

We booked this tour when we arrived in Sydney and realised that the whale migration season was still ongoing. What a brilliant choice.
It took 15mins to leave Sydney harbour and hit the ocean. Almost as soon as we got in open ocean we began to see whales, we then moved further off shore and were confronted by a small group of whales that were breaching almost to order. We stayed with them for about an hour and after several whale watching trips in different parts of the world I have never seen whales breaching constantly for such a prolonged period. The boat and crew were superb and even after leaving the whales stopped off just outside the harbour to spot some NZ fur seals - a brillant end to a brilliant day.
Finally the last brilliant idea was to have a professional photographer on board so we could purchase really good photos whilst not wasting time taking our own and allowing us to see the display without interuption.
This is a trip really worth taking.

What an amazing experience. We went with Captain Cook cruises. I would highly recommend these guys. First time we went out we unfortunately didn't see anything but they gave us a second chance ticket. The customer service was fantastic and so helpful with 2 kids.
The second time out we got to see 4 whales and wow oh wow did they put on a show. The man talking during the trip always made sure we were happy and giving us a laugh. They respected the animals and didn't get to close

Great experience. The boat is fast, the crew is nice and helpful. They respect the animals and do not drive too close to them. But although you can see them good and have a very nice experience. On the way back to habour you've got best chance to take pictures of habour bridge and opera.
