Located in the middle of a tight suburban city town. The entry to the saw mill begins with an enchanted native bush entry to the reserve. It's approx 10-15 min walk from McMahon's point ferry.. By turning right into the 1st street off blues point rd, being a closed off rd. You will find a clear wooden sign marking its entry saw millers reserve. At entry point you will have a feel of how special this reserve is with a cool conditioned atmosphere on a hot summers day. Under the entwined Native trees and vegetation you will sense an excitement to explore its hidden treasures. The winding trail path in this enchanted green bush forest will lead to remains of a saw mill and abandoned timber yard sometime after the 1920,s in the centre of the reserve. Historical inscription boards will describe the location spots in detail of what occurred.. Taking the mysterious native forest trail deeper into the reserve the winding paths will lead you uphill surrounded by exotic trees & floral vegetation where you can sneak a peak of the foreshore scenic sight and vast tall trees and open green grass located on the lower part of the reserve. This up hill path will lead you to back to the tight crowded roads of the hot city suburbs.
Just past the abandoned sawmill in the centre of this mystical reserve is a hidden treehouse overlooking the rusted ship wreck on the foreshore dock down below. The winding wooden stair case of the tree house leads to the lower section of the reserve. Not to far away the abandoned ship has foot stones a muddy creek bank where the ship can be inspected up close..
You find the some of the locals fishing or exercising with their pets along the walk trails of the wild forest and open grass space surrounded by huge trees in the lower part of the park. This reserve is mostly shaded by thick vegetation and huge tall trees creating a fairy tale like atmosphere. Worth exploring!
