This yum cha venue has wonderful food - each item is first class, beautifully prepared, made and cooked. Take your time to order from the trolleys and don't pick the first ones to arrive at your table when you have just sat down. They tend to be the most expensive and at $15 plus, that is expensive yum cha. However, there are 6 different prices so you can get a much cheaper meal. There is a menu at the entrance downstairs but I didn't read it and therefore can't say if it is for yum cha or perhaps dinner. If it is for yum cha you will be able to work out how to stay within your budget.
We had the most expensive yum cha I have ever had - be warned. We will return as the service was excellent and they were very accommodating of the two children, one in a stroller. On weekends there is also parking underneath at $8 a day so that is really a bargain and the location of the restaurant in the old Piccadilly Arcade actually has a ground floor entry into David Jones Men's store, as it is on Castlereagh just past Market St and only one block from St. James Station. Our yum cha was $174, for 3 adults and 1 3yr old so be warned, once again and be prepared.

Had a family dinner at the Palace Restaurant on a Sunday evening. The waiters were most friendly and welcoming. Service was attentive and unassuming. The waiter, especially the manager, Ray, were very helpful in recommending the dishes. Food was really fresh and tasty. The Wasabi Beef Wagyu is out of this world... never tasted such a dish before, very tasty and very tender. Wine selection is A'OK. Already looking forward to the next visit.

This place can be overwhelming. No sooner have you sat down than you are besieged by offers from a phenomenal selection of Yum Cha. It's comical really so you need to hold your ground and not feel pressured. Fabulous options to choose from so you shouldn't have any problem finding something delicious to eat. It's a bit hit and miss with the service. On the whole over the many visits I have been very fortunate to have attentive waiters but now and then when they get real busy... When you have little time then their efficiency is much appreciated of course. Great food and convenient location. I'll be going back!!!

If you are in Sydney for a holiday and have a craving for good Cantonese food, this is one restaurant that serves traditional HK Chinese dishes. For lunch, the dim sum dishes are varied and hard to pick one that is below par.

For dinner (or Lunch), you should ask for their recommendations of live fishes. As usual you would expect to pay some like A$70 per kg for live fishes, tell them to steam, HK style 80% cook where the veins on the spine is still raw. Stay clear of the crabs as for some reason, Sydney crabs are very expensive.

Sometimes they have special dishes, we had a stew lamb with white radish. It is very warming for a cold evening.

Talk and discuss with the head waiter and order a balance of dishes to make the meal enjoyable and not overeat. Wine selection is somewhat limited, you can BYO if you order enough.
