Beautiful beach, great sand and swimming... A short walk from the Manly Ferry, and surrounded by great places to eat or buy souvenirs

“Very clean beach area with lots going on”

Nice to visit, the ferry journey lets you see all of the bay sights. Lots of restaurants / bars etc but not the cheapest to eat / drink out

“Manly adventure”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

We left Sydney to stay at Manly for a few days and are so happy we did. The beach was beautiful and the climate more relaxing. There are plenty of nice restaurants and shops. If you want some exercise, try the Spit to Manly coastal walk. It is 10K over some interesting terrain. The Aussie's called it a "gentle to moderate" walk. I'm a walker and would have labeled it more difficult than that, but the scenery is not to be missed!

Cool beach at the end of best ferry ride in Sydney Harbor. Beach is right there next to town center. Go over for lunch and a beer and stroll around, or spend the day at the beach. Lots of surfers.

“Not that great.”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

Coming from the Santa Cruz, CA area, we have high expectations for a surf beach. In December it was very windy and there weren't many surfers. It was Australia summer, but it was cold and not comfortable to sit on the beach. Limited shopping experience. Every store had the same T-shirts and hats. A friend of mine who lived in Sydney for a short time loved Manly Beach, so maybe it was just a bad time of season.
