The hotel is situated in a very lively area. Nothing to be scared of however. We got the room already at 11.00 am, and the gentleman at the reception was very nice & helpful. The room was spacious enough, but the bathroom was rather small. Overall impression was ok, and the condition of the room was also ok. You could hear the noise from the alley very clearly, which was not that nice. Still I would say that Bayswater is a safe and ok place. If you arrive by train, take the Kings Cross station (train line towards Bondi Beach).

I had a two night stay at this terrible dark and cramped hotel. I left my room for 1 hour at 10pm to go have a late bit to eat and my room was robbed and a laptop stolen. When investigated by police they found the door to the room doesn't lock, the door being faulty. So anyone could just walk in at any time. The hotel admitted their door was faulty but after waiting 4 days for an answer I was advised that even though their door was faulty, it was MY responsibility for not checking the door every time I came and went. It wasn't that I didnt close the door properly, it was the door NEVER locks no matter what you do. They failed in their Duty of Care to provide a safe and secure environment yet had the nerve to blame me. I DO NOT recommend this hotel, The GM Marian Anderle, while considerate and apologetic initially, then spoke with the owner to address my concern he became abrupt and arrogant. I was offered no recompense for my loss, not even a discount on my stay - they laid the blame fully on the guest. This is a hotel that you cannot trust if something doesn't go right. I would suggest you look elsewhere such as the Diamant, the Kirkton or the Medusa.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. Unfortunately, as we have CCTV footage of the door to your room that suggests a very different version of events to those mentioned here, as we mentioned to you many times, we are not in a position to pay you the $3000 that you demanded from us to be paid within 48 hours, or negative tripadvisor comments would follow.

Of course, we had several team members check the door to your room, which was working perfectly well.

We take guest security very seriously at The Bayswater Sydney, as we do at all Sydney Lodges properties. We have very vigilant staff at The Bayswater Sydney as well as a very comprehensive security system to ensure guests, and their belongings, are safe.

Thank you again for taking the time to review our hotel. Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate you in the future, but wish you the best for your onwards travels.

it has a very great location, just a few steps to bus and train stations.the personelles are very friendly and welcoming.a good cafe is next to hotel offering yummy breakfast.but from my point of view there are somethings can be noted :my room was small and dark with no natural light.there was no safety-box in room. the lift worked too slow, prefer to go up on your feet :) with accessibility only up to the 4th level. you have to walk from 4th to 5th level.and according to the room location, you may encounter the outside lights and noises specially on weekends.but i overally recommend it you come to sudney for business or sightseeing

Room Tip: rooms in the first or max 2th floor because of the badly-work lift

Thank you for staying with Sydney Lodges at The Bayswater Sydney.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay overall. We do have larger rooms than the Small Double Room you had booked of course, which offer extra space. If space is what you're after I would definitely recommend booking the Executive King Suite which has a separate lounge area.

I apologise if there was some noise in the building during your stay. We do our best to keep the place as quiet as possible, however if there are ever any issues we always encourage guests to call the reception to alert us to your discomfort, so we can deal with it then and there.

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We hope to see you again in the near future.

We arrived at this hotel early on a Sunday morning around 9:00. We were so tired after a 23 hour trip that we were really hoping for an early check-in, but didn't think it was going to happen. Martin was at the reception when we arrived that morning. He couldn't have been more understanding and after 30 minutes, he found us a room and allowed us to check in right away! This was a good start to our four day stay in Sydney. The hotel is very well located, walking distance to many attractions or a short ride away on any of the buses that stop right by the hotel. Our room was small, but very comfortable, with a great shower, great bed and best of all, Quiet! No noise at all. The staff was friendly and helpful all the time and suggested places to eat during our stay. We want to thank all of them who made our experience a very pleasant one in Sydney, but especially, a big THANKS to Martin.

At Martin's suggestion, we celebrated our annivesary at Kika's Tapas restaurant. This is a very nice Spanish restaurant nearby the hotel with great food and atmosphere.

Based onour experience, we highly recommend the Bayswater Sydney.

Good value for a hotel in central Sydney (where hotels are very expensive). Room was generally well equipped but quite small, and lighting pretty dreadful (our room looked in to a well with little natural light, and lighting used eco-friendly bulbs). We stayed in Room 204 which has a permanently barred window - so no escape that way in case of fire in the lobby or landing - rather worrying this!
Room was fairly noisy - some sound from external night clubs - but principal problem was that floorboards were squeaky and door was poorly fitting (you could see light all the way round). I must say staff were very welcoming and helpful. Good laundry facilities.
The breakfast next door - the Bayswater Bru - was excellent and good value. The small Italian to the right out of the front door, and just past the traffic lights, provided excellent food and value. As did the small Thai 'cafe' in William Street (just heading back towards CPD).
Hotel is very well placed for public transport - 2/3 minutes walk to Kings Cross Station, and bus stops just outside.

Thank you for staying with Sydney Lodges at The Bayswater Sydney.

We're glad you found The Bayswater Sydney to be great value and well located. I'm sorry to hear you found the room too small for your requirements. Of course, we do have larger rooms such as the Executive King Suites which provide more space than our other room types, with a separate seating area and sofa. These rooms are also lighter being at the front of the building with large floor to ceiling windows that overlook the trees on Bayswater Road.

Thank you for your kind comments about our team, we're very proud of our front office and housekeeping teams, they work very hard and always seem to delight our guests which is fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to review us here on Tripadvisor, we hope to see you again soon.
