I booked this hotel after seeing the rating on Tripadvisor. usually when I stay in this area I stay at the Kirketon, but it seemed like The Bayswater could be a better option. Unfortunately this was not the case.
On checking in after an overnight flight from Hong Kong I requested a quiet room as I wanted to sleep for a couple of hours. I had a quick shower in the tiny bathroom then settled down to sleep which proved impossible due to noisy tradesmen yelling to each other and banging loudly outside my room. This was then followed by very noisy construction work nearby. Despite this noise, in a state of exhaustion I managed to fall asleep for an hour before being woken by housekeeping knocking on my door 4 times then actually coming into the room, despite the fact I had the do not disturb sign on the door.
Enraged I rang down to reception and asked to change my room. Now very grumpy and sleep deprived I packed my bags again and moved to a quieter room, where I could still hear the noisy construction work. After tossing and turning I gave up on sleeping finally.
Despite this, the remainder of the stay was OK except for one night of noisy music from a bar nearby. quieter.
The decor and service level is probably the same as the Kirketon, but due to the location the Kirketon isMore
