Spend a week at the Sugar Cane in March . Can not say enough good things about this Hotel . Staff are lovely , food was amazing and the general feel of the hotel is warm and welcoming .
We took advantage of the Gully Walk and the Glass Bottomed boot trip that the Hotel offer free of charge and also enjoyed the Cocktail Tasting that was hosted by Sharon .
We spoke to lots of people staying there and many were regulars and others would like to be regulars .
The Covid 19 situation escalated toward the end of our Holiday and the hotel handled it really well , hand sanitizers were put up around the Hotel and they took care to ensure that guests and staff were as safe as they could be .
We used the Spa and I can highly recommend it , I had a massage and a facial and the setting was perfect .

I was very sad to leave the hotel and the Island especially knowing that tourism is so important to both and at this time that has all come to a stop . I will be back as soon as I am able to do so .

Very nice hotel with excellent staff but it needs to pay attention to some aspects of it’s operation.
The eating arrangements where by it is necessary to book a time in one of the two restaurants the night before , is irritating.
There is a desperate need for more sun loungers around the pool. Given this is a none beach hotel it can be very difficult to get a sun lounger at certain times. This particularly so when some very selfish guests reserve beds and then leave them unoccupied for long periods. In one case 6 hours whilst I assume they went on a trip and wanted to be sure of beds when they returned.
The rule about the none wearing of shorts by men in the bar and restaurants is a little antiquated. Good tailored shorts in my view are ‘more elegant’ then a lot of the trousers I saw, especially when jeans are allowed.
It’s is a nice hotel and the staff are very attentive. However I think they should take a leaf out of the way their sister hotel ‘ The Bel Jou’ in St. Lucia is operated. My wife and I stayed there last year and we found it superior.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us a review. We appreciate you highlighting both positive and constructive feedback as we take this very seriously. Thank you for mentioning our staff as they are the greatest assets.

At present we take reservations to control our seating in both restaurants as there are very small. We are very sorry to hear that you fell its irritating but we allow guests to make reservations in advance or be able to book any time during the day.

As it relates to our dress code It is stated on our website tailored shorts can be worn 3 nights a week for poolside dining. We will definitely look at the sun longers and find the best possible solution. Thank you for choosing us and allowing us to make your stay memorable. Hope you will come and visit us again

Stayed here for a week, should have been 2, but cut short due to virus. That said had a garden view room overlooking gardens and pool area, superb. Watched monkeys and hummingbirds every day
Excellent friendly staff and food was superb, they couldn't do enough for you. Would return

This was the second time we have stayed at Sugar cane. The staff and management are so helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately, due to the Covid 19 , Virgin decided to cut our holiday short. Every day we were told something different. The reception staff were able to help with U K travel arrangements after arriving back in UK. They were also able to give the correct details re new flights, departure times e.t.c So well looked after.
The restaurants were well run by a team of mostly younger female staff and a very good and professional Dining room manager. We did not see the new F and B manager, unlike Henderson who was always around. The new menu at Sandy's Chattel Bar and Restaurant was amazing, and the two chefs produced the most beautiful food.
Again, the waitress in charge was professional and extremely pleasant. A lovely place.

Small boutique hotel with a quiet charm. Spent three weeks here and gradually attuned ourselves to the very relaxing nature of the place. Clientele mainly in the older age group. We ourselves are well into our 70s but, whilst we may be old, we’re not quite dead and along with many others, still enjoy a bit of ‘up beat’ dancing , but the entertainment often did not accommodate this.
Staff very friendly and food good. Only went to the ‘Sugar Cane ‘ beach once as we found (from previous years at Almond Beach hotel) that Heywoods beach was much nicer, with very few people and better snorkelling. Do go on the gulley tour with the head gardener. He is very knowledgeable and full of funny anecdotes.
We loved Sandys restaurant. It is a pity that they don’t make more use of it by letting diners sit outside after the meal and make use of the small bar.
The rooms were lovely. One small complaint was the fact that the full sized refrigerator was not stocked with any drinks except two bottles of water which, if consumed, you had to pay for. This is appalling in what is considered a 4* + hotel.
I did like the fact that you could tip staff at the end of the holiday by leaving money in an envelope. This meant that all staff could benefit; however, in parting with a reasonably large amount of money, I would have liked to have seen more robust accounting controls than just money in an envelope.
All in all an enjoyable holiday. If you’re looking for ultra relaxation, this is the place to go.
