The origin of this tree is Africa. You find plenty of Baobab trees in Mannar. It attracts the attention of the travellers due to its shape.

Biggest tree in Mannar. There are many baobabs in Talaimannar road. It is couple of kilometers from Mannar town (Know as Pallimunai). Area is residential and may be unclean close to the tree with stray dogs and cows roaming around. Reminder of the arab connections for centuries in this part of Sri Lanka

This is the biggest tree I've ever seen. Too bad that it is in the city and surrounding by concrete (as other baobabs in neighborhood). There are more baobabs along the road to the end of island. Also good to see.

We went via mannar to jaffna. The ride was really unique as via mannar it is a less taken road to jaffna and bio bab also you can make a stop to see. Maybe about a 1km divert from the main road.

The tree is massive and has been there since 1700s and one f d largest barks.

Its a pity some info on the board are missing.

For me, if was unique, massive and also represens some darkness in the history.
