Description: After being closed for over a year The Pear Tree Inn has been carefully restored as a farmhouse kitchen with bar & rooms. It has a relaxed & rustic appeal to the locally sourced menu & reclaimed quirky decor. An old stone build farmhouse with rug strewn flagstones & reclaimed timber flooring. It features worn wooden tables with mismatched furniture and linen napkins. The Pear Tree Inn will showcase the best local suppliers with a menu guided by the seasons. It also offers overnight guests eight contemporary individually decorated rooms split between the Inn & a beautifully converted barn .

A we booked a Sunday lunch mid week after popping in for a drink, we found the place vibrant and the staff attentive even though it was a full house. The food came, hot and the plate was full. We were asked if there was anything else we needed and the staff ensured our wine glasses were replenished and our needs satisfied........ all in all a great dinning expierance followed with a G&T on the lawn in the Sunshine........ what more could you ask for? Would go again and highly recommend.

Having heard about the Pear Tree for years, we decided to go for lunch with visiting friends.
Previously owned by Marco Pierre White it is now under new management. Staff are friendly and polite. Decor is great and attention to detail is great. Clean and welcoming.

The menu is good but needs a few more specials/regular pub food /light bites. It is quite a limited menu and struggled to find a dish thst i liked outright just by reading.

That said, the food was freshly cooked, well presented and hot. The portions were variable from plate to plate as two of us chose the same dishes. They have a great way of making a small portion look far more by ribbons of courgettes etc. The starter of buffalo mozzarella was more lettuce than mozarella. The gammon while presented well was very salty. The foods are sometimes served in pots or small dishes or boards. We had to ask for plates a couple of times so not to spill our food.

Clearly the staff and kitchen are trying hard but our interpretation was more of a gastro pub. The food was tasty enough but sadly we were not as impressed as we had hoped and expected.

We have been many times in the past, those visits spurred us to return for my birthday meal.
Unfortunately on this occasion our visit was plagued with issues. First the waitress came to apologise for having forgotten our mains, once they did arrive my "lamb three ways" was only 2, though after asking the third did appear. Sadly it didn't stop there, my partners cabbage had a cooked catapillar sat proudly on top of it, for which she was given a whole fresh plate, though was a bit put off for obvious reasons. The catapillar meal was also struck from the bill, the staff were mortified and very apologetic and did everything they could to remedy the issues. However it did leave us a little disappointed as we normally visit as a special treat. It is unlikely that we will return in the future as our attachment to the place has been somewhat sullied by the experiance, which is a shame.

We were a party of 4 dining on Friday evening 7th September and we were very disappointed with the food and in particular the service provided by both our waitress and manager.
Two of us ordered stuffed squid as a main course they were both tough, over cooked and inedible. Our waitress replaced with 2 different mains which arrived after the rest of us had finished our meal. Our friends were practically passed eating at this stage.
We raised our dissatisfaction with our waitress who was quite defensive and could not understand why were were complaining when she had provided replacement meals? She completely missed the point. She hardly gave us the chance to speak, was aggressive in her verbal delivery and bad body language.
We asked to see the manager, and she was not much better, ineffectual, lacked empathy and sensitivity. She appeared completely out of her depth and had no clue how to deal with dissatisfied customers.
Needless to say will not be going back, it was the worst customer service we have received in a long time.

A very nice family lunch here

No longer owned by MPW I understand, and it is clear that a big investment has been made in the environment which is very comfortable.

Good selection of beers and very nice food

Well done!
