I liked the rooms - all newly furbished, with nice bathrooms, good towels, good beds.
Loved the view towards the river - nice garden, and very nice view.
Loved the sunbeds and all the accommodations for people to cook their own food
Disliked:
- the administrator smelling of alcohol. He was friendly but, well, that made me uncomfortable.
- no possibility to buy anything in the accommodation, not even water - tricky when the nearest shop is in Orsova, some many kms away. So do your shopping beforehand - you can cook there without problems
- same prices for all rooms, including one with a bathroom outside of the room (granted, a big bathroom), including the small room nr 1, the big room nr 3, and the room in the attick, with a sink so small I could not wash my teeth in there.
- the water heater probably worked for others, but late in the evening I got cold water only, and around 10 AM I got cold water again. Annoying.

Room Tip: ask for the room on floor 1, facing the river (I think it's room 3).

The good: The place is nice and clean, recently renovated.
The bad: You will pay the same price for both the big rooms on the 1st floor and the very small ones on the second floor.
The ugly: very crowded and noisy through the weekends with people visiting the hosts, actually at one point the pool was full of people that weren't staying there. Fishing should be out of the question and some of the rednecks that were visiting took the fishing tools down on several occasions. After many incidents like this, they become aggressive, swearing and coming towards us... for a fight or something. During all this time, the manager just stood there and after this he sat at the table with them while they continued to swear.

Found this jewel for our first night in Romania. We had rented a car in Belgrade and drove SE along the Romania side of the Danube. This pensiunea is located on a small inlet off the river and the access is a couple of KM up an unpaved road off the main paved road. The setting is beautiful park-like and the rooms are comfortable. The host Mihai and his family were warm and welcoming and very helpful in planning the next leg of our journey. They don't have food yet, but we had the use of a well equipped kitchen and living/dining area and there is a great restaurant called September located right on the river a couple of KM down the road toward Drobeta-Turnu Severin.

We stayed there for two nights and ended up regretting not staying more.
The personnel is very friendly and helpful. The location is breathtaking and there are plenty of activities to fill your days. You can swim in the hotel pool, do some sunbathing on the private beach, go on boat rides on the Danube, rent a bike from the hotel or just take long walks around - view is awesome.
Some important things to know:
- It is quite far from Orsova city, around 15km. It is also further than the village of Eselnita so don't plan hiking or getting a cab. The owner is helpful, ask him for directions via mail/phone.
- If you come by car, the road is good up to the statue of Decebal, where you have to take a right to a ~1 KM unpaved road. It's not that bad but be prepared to wash your car when you leave as it will gather dust during your stay. The hotel has video surveillance of the parking which is also good.
- you have to bring and cook your own food here. There are enough resources in nearby Orsova but it's good to have everything when you arrive. This way you won't waste 2-3 hours to re-fill your supplies. There are enough appliances to help you cook (barbecue included) although there could be limited space in the fridge&freezer if there are many guests. Pasta, rice and stuff like that can be a good idea. If you're a fisher, the food aspect may be easier to handle.
- Talk to the owner/personnel for boat rides. If enough guests agree, they can arrange for a boat to come pick everyone up right from the hotel. We missed it :)

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a view to the beach - very nice view of the hotel yard and surrounding hills.

Actually, the pension is not in Orsova, but 19 km away from Orsova to Dubova direction, or 6 km from Dubova if you come from the other direction. When you arrive at Decebal statue, from DN57 you change direction to right (if you com from Orsova) and then drive 1,7 km on a secondary road, on the Mraconia Bay's shore. This road could be a little challenging if you're not used with driving on unasphalted roads. But it won't take you more than five minutes, very slow and carefully driving. And there you are, arrived!
We got a room not very fancy and not too comfortable, pretty small, no TV, but very clean, and the bathroom properly working, with good water pressure, cold and hot as well.
The yard is carefully arranged, with lawn all over, a small pool on the right side and kitchen area on the left, with grills, stove, vessels, refrigerators and everything you need for cooking. There are also two gazebos, each one having a grill, in case there are two different groups they can cook and stay separately. At the backside of the yard there is also a table right on the bayshore, under a willow, a very nice shadowy place to stay and play rummy or something.
Back on the bridge there is a mini landing place for small rowing boats and bicycles that you can rent from the owner. Also, there are proper stands for fixing the fishing rods.

Room Tip: ask for room with view on the bay. the other rooms are with view to the front yard (road) and there is nothing to see.
