Bar Sandy in Radda serves great ice cream. That's it in a nutshell.
Like all Italian Galeteria, the choice is wide and the quality great. But in Radda. you have the advantage of being able to sit on the roadside and watch the beautiful little Tuscan town and it's many visitors and locals go about their business. It's great.

Of all the places to stop for a coffee, ice cream, pastry and lots of people whatching in Tuscany, none beat Sandy's.
It is relaxed, authentic and has great seats in the shade to watch Radda coming and going.
Get there early and see the shops open up and the town come to life. Have an evening drink there and watch the town turn itself into one of the best eating towns in Tuscany.

We have been visiting “Chianti-shire” for many years and whenever we pop into Radda there is one place that we always feel is worth a visit, whether it’s for a relaxing coffee and a pastry, a light snack and a well-served birra alla spina or a fabulous ice cream.
There are lots (and it seems an ever-increasing number) of places in Radda for food and refreshment, including some very good restaurants where we have had the pleasure of dining, and some great places for a snack, a drink and a “people-watch”. The difference with Sandy Café ( or following it’s recent refurbishment Sampoli & Lapis Pasticceria Gelateria ) is that it is a little understated and less showy than some others. It has a great location overlooking the valley and facing the main town square (adjacent to the cinema) and so does not have the appearance of a picturesque back street pavement café.
But what is does have is great staff, lovely pastries, well served beers and drinks and, particularly, really excellent ice cream.
It’s one of those places that is frequented by locals and well as informed tourists. We were introduced to the place over 12 years ago by the driver when we were on a tour of local vineyards, and its been a firm favourite ever since. With its new facelift it’s a great place and well worth a visit, if only for the great gelato. (Just don’t go on Monday as that’s the day they have a rest).

We were tired after a day of sightseeing and needed a nice jolt ( windy and rainy) so we stumbled on bar sandy . We ordered a cappuccino a hot tea a small panini and a pastry .All was fresh and very good but you have to see the bill to believe it: 5 euros total!!!
Where in the planet do you have that?
The server Luccia was very pleasant and helpful
If you visit Radda don't forget to go there and try their artisanal gelato too
