Your jaw will drop when you first arrive at “At William’s Rest”. The B&B is perched high a cliff overlooking Salmon Cove beach. It’s as if you’ve been parachuted into one of those seductive Newfoundland Tourism ads; and, indeed you have, because two of them were filmed there.

We stayed three nights and would have happily stayed longer. Salmon Cove is on the Baccalieu trail. It’s well placed for day trips and there are good restaurants within a reasonable drive.

Marilyn is a welcoming hostess and is quick to help with local recommendations. She serves a very good hot breakfast that changes each day. Her home is lovingly decorated and filled with art - both her own and others. The large bedrooms (there are two) are spotless with great mattresses and private baths. The guests also have use of the downstairs library.

If you are planning a trip to Newfoundland, book this one early because, unsurprisingly, it’s often full. We’ll be back.

Lovely, well appointed rooms. Home was clean, decorated with tasteful pieces of furniture and art. Guests also have access to a great library. The host was most welcoming, and provided helpful information regarding the area. Would certainly recommend this B&B to friends and family, and we would love to go back! It was a delightful find

Room Tip: Both rooms have fabulour views

Our visit to this spot set the bar high for our first weekend in Newfoundland. Marilyn, the host has built, in Salmon Cove, a beautiful, whimsical, well-appointed resting place that provides an amazing view, wonderful food, and warm Newfoundland hospitality. Marilyn suggested the best place to eat supper in town (Carbonear) - Foon's, which offers the finest cod dinner we had in our two weeks on the island. Her own breakfast was scrumptious and made-to-request. We highly recommend At William's Rest for a lovely getaway on it's own or a fine stopping place on a longer journey.

Place is clean and tidy with amazing views. Good breakfast and a non intrusive host. Great location will go back for sure! The beach is a short distance away and easy to go to carbonear for some meals.

This is a fabulous spot to relax! The B&B was very clean, the ambiance cozy. It only has two rooms, both upstairs, but they are big with large clean ensuite bathrooms. We booked both rooms and our girls 13yrs and 8yrs took one and my husband and I the other. This was fabulous because as we were the only guest we could leave our doors open for the kids if they needed us. This place has free wifi. However the most spectacular thing about this B&B is the views and the proximity to a lovely beach with soft grey sand. Our youngest didn't want to ever leave! Special mention should go to the owner Marlyn who's breakfasts are awesome. Our menu this morning was miniature pancakes with fresh blueberries, mini omelettes with lactose free cheese (she accommodated our dietary needs) with breakfast potatoes and bacon...plus toast made from homemade bread. We are definitely going again!
