My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the Pool Villas in Antulang, we've read a lot of mixed reviews online before we booked this hotel, but we took the risk. It was a bit far from Dumaguete, and it's literally in the middle of nowhere, abt 1-2 kms away from the hotel is a private road strictly for Antulang guests. It kinda looked like a prison from the outside (sorry) total locked down, high fence you can't tell what's inside, but that was something we were happy abt cos it shows they have tight security and you'd feel safe staying there.

First thing you notice abt this property is it is massive, staff were attentive and very nice and easy to talk to. Checkin process was smooth and the view from the lobby is badass.

We had our own villa with a pool and jacuzzi, a massive bathroom and shower and a breathtaking view of the ocean from our room.

We didn't swim in their infinity pool cos we had our own pool but it looked amazing. There were also stairs that lead down to the beach.
Antulang is a very nice hotel, just a bit old and needs some touch ups (esp the garden) But overall, it was worth it.

The resort needs to maintain their cleanliness, They don't have enough staff although the person(all around bellboy, restaurant and etc.) that escorted us was very polite and accommodating. Pool was not well maintained there's moss under it. But the view was awesome. A picturesque beach.

we visited this place recently for having a lunch.

all started badly because i was ask for paying 2*300php against a 600php consumable voucher of 600php.

we also had to register like if my wife and i were terrorists.

and last we were ask for signing a liability contract before we could proceed to the restaurant.

the restaurant lay on top of a reef and the view is breathtaking.

the adobo pork was well seasoned, tender and not hard but the sauce was bland. the rice was unfortunately dry. (12/20).

the seafood medley was dry. the fish was too cooked, the shrimps were stick of processed food and the calamari were harf too small and rare. (8/20).

the buko shake tasted milch from a condence box rather than coconut. (1/20).

whe.m the bill arrived the amount requested was 300php more than i expected. as a matter of fact the cashier said that only 150 out of 300php was consumable and we had to pay 300php more.

after complaining and menacing of a formal complaint to the barangay captain, the OIC (translated as the officer in charge) agreed to gave us back the 300php.

it is really ashamed to go thru such stressful situation for just a lunch @726php

Tired lost soul resort , In it's hay days would of been good but new tight Chinese investors have ruined it , eg every single item purchased in rest / bar a 10% surcharge is added , that's right wether it's 1 X beer or 5 X meals with chips a. Whoppering 10% is added to every single item , rip off ,illegal & corrupt , Verdict - stay away & seek a happy positive resort not here . Shower water / hand basin is salty contaminated water , safe is non working , old run down resort

Room tip: Sesa view no 2 if you don't mind the resident sea crab in the toilet bowl

I read the reviews of Antulang beforehand and admit to being prepared for a disappointment. But hats off, this was a most pleasant surprise. Yes, there were a few negs, but on the whole we very much enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Let’s start with the things that went right. Full marks to the staff who waited late for our arrival and the kitchen staff who went the extra yard or two to feed us at such an hour. I apologise also for the later pantomime of attempting to get into our villa to the two lovely ladies charged with getting us to our room. Foreigners straight off long haul flights need to bathed in milk and fed intravenously with Tanduay. It makes them less clumsy - but I can’t expect Antulang to afford such lofty courtesies to guests.

And my, what a lovely room. Airy and spacious, sliding doors onto the sun patio and pool area and a short hop to the cliff and a great view across to Apo to the left and Mindanao in front. The wife loved the colours of the room btw.

Meanwhile yours truly is transported to skinny dip heaven due to the inclusion of thoughtful privacy by the enclosing walls. A cool breeze wafted in throughout the two nights we stayed so the aircon was barely needed. Cool.

The ‘leaves in the pool’ argument. Um, it’s the tropics, there’s a breeze and leaves will blow. Upon arrival not a leaf to be seen, after two days, maybe a dozen or so. Bung them out if they offend you. We saw the groundsman diligently cleaning the pool area. It’s like painting the Forth bridge. Once you have finished one end it’s time to start again back where you started. One chap doing this around the main area. I dare say he would have done our private pool if asked. But I’m man enough to chuck out what fell in.

The hot water debate: ours was plentiful and sufficient, you just need to leave things running for 5 minutes or so. Pressure could be a bit harder (please do not get confused with the instruction to the hilot. The masseuse was as equally wonderful as the staff. I mean the water pressure dear readers).

Lunch and evening meals were generously sized and tasty and to contribute to the “I had to wait for hours” controversy, ours arrived promptly - and if there was a wait it was reasonable given cooking time. Besides the view across the sea, beer supplied at regular intervals and then the fact we just wanted to chill made any ‘delay’ un-noticeable. Reading some of the reviews here I have visions of refugees clamouring for a UN sized relief convoy rather than tropical tourism at Antulang. Still, you can’t please everyone I suppose...

Just a word or hundred on some negatives. We were a little disappointed at the garden inside our Villa...it could use a little more TLC. It very much would make a difference. The grounds were a little neglected too - straight after the wet and now into the dry it’s going to look ugly in a few weeks. Outside our villa looking inland there is not much to commend Antulang. Downsize guys and concentrate on what you do well. Likewise the breakfast hall was a little to ‘mass catering’ for our likes. Empty halls, buffets, it’s a personal yuks from us.

As mentioned in the intro, not a complaint about the staff. Pleasant, prompt and friendly...good work guys. We will be back soon.
