I'm a Florida girl. I've lived in the Tampa bay area almost my entire life. With that being said it was one of my worst beach experience. Large rocks in the water mada it very difficult to walk out and truly enjoy. The beach was very narrow and there was of course the fee to get in. For the amount of time it took to get there this beach was just not worth it.

We were a bit sceptical after reading a couple of bad reviews but we had the most amazing day at honeymoon island (thankfully at the suggestion of our travel guide Gift at Give Gift Tour on Patak Road Karon). Gift was spot on with her recommendation as we didn't want to be stuck on a tourist boat for the whole day with stacks of people, only sight seeing. Quite the opposite happened as we went by a large catamaran with about 15-20 people and had a great time with the crew who were born entertainers! We stopped for fishing and my 13 year old son was over the moon to catch a small fish. We then had a second stop to snorkel on the opposite side of the island to where the main stop was. There was a yummy buffet lunch waiting for us when we got to the main beach. The beach was divine, blue water and white sand - postcard perfect. We spent a couple of hours chilling out, snorkelling etc. there was a small shop selling ice-creams and another small gift shop. Kids had a great time and so did the adults. The boat ride back was less than an hour which was ideal. I would highly recommend this day trip to others.

Wasn't what we expected. I have been to many beaches in Florida and there is soothing executional about this one. Rocky shores, cloudy water. Not much beach space. Spend your time 15 or 20 mins up or down the coast. Plenty of beaches that make this look last on the list. Not to mention you have to pay 12$ to get into the park. Not honeymoon material.

We went there as the pictures looked amazing. We we weren't told about the tsumani hit resort. We got there to find a resort that wasn't functioning anymore and construction going on. Yes the water was beautiful but the sand had lots of stones and coral all the way along it. There was rubbish all along the wrecked resort and old tyres and bottles along the beach. Overall at the moment I wouldnt recommend going, maybe once the resort is up and running then yes, I would say go give it a try.

We did a day trip to honeymoon island (Mai Ton island) through Love Andaman and it was nothing short of AMAZING! The island only had about 50 of the same people all day as it is privately owned. It was like a postcard. Cristal clear water which was so warm to swim in. The company was so professional on a new and safe boat with English, Chinese and thai speaking staff. The island only reopened a month ago due to the 2004 tsunami. There is a beautiful pool for non swimmers. Hopefully they reopen the resort for people to stay. We didn't want to leave!
