We had an amazing stay at the Westin Hapuna. Our children (ages 4 & 6) had an absolute blast. Pool area was enormous. In addition, the beach had a great mix of calm and wavy days. Bonus were the tide pools where our kids played with fish, crabs, shrimp, etc. Special shout-out to Ginger who made us feel welcome every morning at breakfast. Great activities for adults as well...we had a great time at the spa, golfing, and tennis (over at the Mauna Kea)More

Accommodation was great, bed super comfortable, lanai view of the ocean, pool is very warm and beach not to far from the pool. Friendly staff and great experience with the restaurants. Take advantage of the cultural advisor they have on property to learn about the Hawaiian culture, lei making, O'li (chant) and Olelo (Hawaiian language). You will learn the true meaning of Aloha. The hotel was not busy at all, everyone wore their mask and table in the restaurant are more than 6ft apart. We did have some issues with the Ikena Landing restaurant for breakfast but was immediately recovered when we received the bill.

Came here to escape pandemic chaos in California. The room is spacious and beautiful; very few people here. We had the adult pool to ourselves, and you can’t beat the beach. We just extended our stay two more nights.

What can I say about The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort during a world wide pandemic? Nothing but how EXCELLENT the accommodations were and how the entire staff treated my family and I like royalty from the moment we arrived! The grounds were immaculate and great care was given to meet all the health safety requirements! The pool was very clean and the poolside bar was a great spot to order a drink and eat snacks. The beach was awesome–a great place to read and take a morning stroll! A special "Thank You" goes out to your Catering Director, Wendy Ittner! Ms. Wendy and her staff handled our reception dinner with such excellence and care! Not to mention the Barbecue Buffet was awesome! We could not have asked for anything better! Thank you for making our Thanksgiving Vacation one that we will remember forever! My family and I are already making plans to come back next Thanksgiving!

The Westin Hapuna hotel is a great resort for a family vacation. The hotel is located on the northern west part of the Big Island. The area itself is very remote, not habituated and fairly far away from anywhere. We had to travel everyday to eat outside but that was fine as we wanted to get out of the hotel and see things.
The room was comfortable, beds were fine but not great - turns out the local Queen size bed is smaller than the California standard. TV, fridge, hair dryer etc. were there. The toilet, bath tub and shower room was big and had two separate sinks which was great. There was also a nice small balcony.
Pools were awesome, there was an adult pool with a jacuzzi on the upper deck, and a kids pool in the lower deck. Since the hotel capacity was about %30 nothing was too crowded. The children had a lot of fun playing in the pool. There's an easy access path to the hotel's private beach which was really great. On the beach they have sea beds with parasols. There's a little bit of snorkeling on the right end of the beach where near the rocks, nothing fancy. There were much better snorkeling sites elsewhere.
Rooms were cleaned every 4 days, room service was great replacing towels and taking garbage bags.

This review is long overdue - was there nearly 9 months ago, but the memory remains of the beautiful resort overlooking the ocean... starting each day lounging on the balcony with a cup of coffee... This was our second time to Kona, stayed on the south side before and I have to say, if you have to pick just one spot, stay on the north on Hapuna Beach! The views from all around the property is amazing. Plus, there is an easy walkway through the golf course to the sister property - also amazing views and beautiful beach. Wanna give a shout out to Luther at the restaurant bar - good guy and such a pro! Wish we were back having a drink and watching the sunset at one of the most beautiful spots we can think of! We've been missing this place ever since!
