In the past month, I have had the pleasure of attending 2 separate events at the Saddleworth Hotel. My previous experience of this venue was 10 years ago at my own wedding reception. I had heard, locally, that there had been renovations since then and I feared that this warm, family run, exquisite, staple of Saddleworth may have changed.

In spite of what I’d heard, I wasn’t really prepared for the scale of the renovations. Both of the events were held in the newly built ballroom section of the hotel. And. It. Is. Stunning. They have managed to seamlessly merge the contemporary with the traditional. The twinkling starlight ceiling, elegant crystal candelabras and table decoration just adds even more elegance to this wood panelled venue. The glass floored mezzanine level is beautiful and, it has to be said, a LOT of fun!

For all the changes, the one thing that has endured is the family run feel of the hotel and the standards of perfectionism in the service.

I never have high expectations of mass catering but I must say that the main of the 3 course meal (roast chicken and seasonal vegetables) was hot, gorgeous and perfectly cooked: chicken moist, vegetables tender – what more can you ask?

I have never stayed overnight here but, for service, elegance and heart; I would highly recommend The Saddleworth Hotel.

I work for an American multinational headquartered in Brussels and travel everywhere for business and the Saddleworth has become one of my favourite hotels to stay at

The hotel is a beautiful traditional series of buildings with wonderful authentic fixtures and fittings but also with modern twists that work seamlessly to make it a prestige venue to visit for vacations, events or business

Set high-up in the moors it combines the benefits of the country but is still easily accessible to beautiful local villages, towns and has excellent road communications - and is in itself a 'destination' with beautiful grounds and local walks

The rooms are wonderful, large, warm really comfortable with the latest in WiFi, lighting, TV, great showers and Jacuzzi's with plenty of fast hot water - I really wanted for nothing

I have been staying here for 3 days a week for the last 4 months (for work) and have been taken as part of the extended family by the owners who cannot do enough to cater for my needs and tastes. They easily cater for you and adapt themselves to you - be it for leisure, events or, in my case, for work. I am pretty fussy and I find it hard to find fault

Not satisfied with what there is they are expanding the hotel to include beauty/massage, an indoor pool and there is already a fully equipped gym - it just gets better ....

I strongly recommend this hotel (winter or summer) and tend not to give recommendations so easily - you'll not regret it

Thank you to the family and staff and for making my stays so comfortable - it really is a 'home form home' and I cannot value that rare commodity highly enough !

Business needs and a developed aversion to the M62 brought a decision to remain overnight on the left of the Pennines.
Spent a very pleasant evening in the beautiful lounge. The proprietor and his attentive staff ensured that I was well attended to. I did not have a meal on this occasion but a fellow guest was full of praise for his meal.
I slept well in the large soft bed. Not the uniform corporate bedrooms of the large chain hotels in this house, but individual bedrooms with character and a hint of luxury.
Breakfast was simple but delicious and served by the charismatic Anthony who again showed his professionalism and attention to detail.
This was my first stay at this lovely location, but I do not intend it to be my last.

Having worked with the Saddleworth Hotel on coordinating the W.I. Centenary Ball that took place on Friday 16th October, I can honestly say, I've never worked with such dedicated, professional and thoroughly hard working people. From start to finish, the entire evening was perfect. The menu that we decided upon was beautifully cooked, fresh and delicious, complimented with silver service. The staff were impeccably dressed, professional and eager to ensure everyone got what they wanted. Even people who weren't keen on certain courses, let the staff know and an alternative dish was presented immediatly. Serving so many people hot food is no mean feat, yet the hotel staff did it with ease and fluidity.
The Ballroom was a perfect setting for such a historic celebration. When the band stared to play, the dance floor was packed all night......a great party atmosphere!
A special thank you goes to the chef who worked extremely hard on a menu that would suit everyone, whilst ensuring that all dietary requirements were catered for . And finally a massive thank you to Daniella Baker, who literally stitched me back into my dress, when the entire zip burst.......ten minutes before my welcome speech to 160 people.... And no, it wasn't the giant white chocolate profiterole that did it!! That is what I call above and beyond the call of duty!! Already looking forward to arranging the next one......A heartfelt thank you to all involved xx
