Very quiet but romantic location. Regreting not being AL as food was very tasty. Helpful staff. Beach could be kept a bit more clean however was enough space next to the swimmingpools. New wing still wasn't completed however I have asked for small tour in side and rooms looked amazing.

Paid quiet a lot of money for this hotel. Really not happy with what we got

Crappy room. Fridge don’t even work. Staff useless. Cleaners didn’t even come in once to clean our room or change towels that was left in the bath. Food choices st night are awful. Ended up getting a taxi to mellieha bay every night for food.

Breakfast in the morning. Hard to find a table. As they not been cleared and clean

Someone dropped a glass. It went everywhere did staff clean it up ...
nope

Not good if your wearing flip flops or not looking where your going as hands are full

Would I return here. No ! Absolutely not hell no

Dear Claire Q

Thank you for finding time to write your review.

We are saddened that your stay with us was not to your expectations however we feel that a need to respond to some of your allegations as in our view all could have been rectified if brought to our attention in a timely manner.

We have different type of rooms, how in the main building so in the new one and certainly none of them are crappy whatever that means. When someone doesn't like a particular room that one has paid for, our Front office team easily offers another one if asked.

Appliances anywhere in the world, including fridges, can stop working for any reason but when that is the case in our resort and reported, we send the maintenance personnel to check and if needed to replace with another one from our store. Its simple as that.

We find it strange that the towels have not been replaced and room not cleaned for the whole stay and even more we find strange that you stayed in such a "dirty" room with such towels when if that was the case bringing it to our attention would solve it instantly.

We cater on a regular basis for years now, shoulder and peek months, for more than 800 guests each day in our restaurants and both of them are open for several hours so that everyone can find a table for breakfast being inside or outside on the terrace. Furthermore we offer for dinner in both Horizon and Teramar a Soup of the day, 3 types of pasta, 3 types of meat from which one is always fish, 2 types of grills, together with these we always have a minimum of 22 salads and 3 types of antipasto also 4 cold desserts, 1 hot dessert, cheese and biscuits, 4 types of ice-cream, carved fruits and fruit salad on a daily basis for Euro 20 each. Beside that we have our Italian A la carte restaurant Piatto Nero which is very popular and Sunset Bar, so calling it "awful" we can consider only as a subjective comment and not state of a fact.

Cleanness is our top priority and we have cleaners for more than 18 hours a day available so if someone dropped a glass like they drop anything else, it is dealt in a timely manner not to cause any further inconvenience to any of our guests.

Despite all this we thank you again for staying with us and wish you long life and prosperity

Although the new part and updating the older part has yet to be completed it is still a lovely Hotel. We were upgraded on arrival to the new part of the hotel which is stunning. The staff were so helpful and welcoming and the food was exceptional. High standard of cleanliness and comfort.

Me and my boyfriend paid 1350 for a week holiday here end of April. This provided us with a twin bedroom overlooking gardens however we were given one with a sea view which was brilliant. The hotel is situation North of Malta looking out to Comino and Gozo. Its a 30 minute walk to the port where a ferry will take you to Gozo for 4.50 euro return. A bus stop is a 10 minute walk away past the neighbouring hotel which takes you around the whole island. A bus is 1.50 euro and the ticket lasts for 2 hours so you can pop off and back on (the same number bus i believe). There are no shops/restaurants in the area so you must get a bus to Mellieha if you want to do anything other then be at the hotel.

The hotel is half new and half old. We stayed in the old part which we were happy with. We had a look around the newer part which is lovely if a bit clinical maybe... the room was big enough for us both and the shower was powerful. The toilet roll and towels were cleaned daily (towels to be left in bath) bed made everyday and coffee etc restocked. The mini bar was full when we arrived and we were informed all this was free but any extra top ups were to be paid for.

We were all inclusive...All meals were great, some nights i found i didn’t like anything but maybe i am just picky. There is a bar-restaurant where you can order meals as and when though out the day, we only used this option once for a sandwich, this turned out to be 2 huge sandwiches each, crisps and a salad. Was lovely. There are cakes by the bar everyday which were A.i also, very nice cakes .

Now the staff seemed confused about some things. We were billed a few times for drinks and we were told that the drinks we ordered were not included in the all inclusive. We were confused but went back and argued, with a different person and were given a refund. We were wearing bands as we were All inclusive, however we had to state our room number every time we ordered at the bar and show the restaurant the key card holder with our details every time we ate. I really didn’t see the point in this. To be clear All inclusive includes beer and wine by the glass only. The beers included are on the menu which was Carlsberg and another brand. Some cocktails and mocktails with a.i beside the name on the menu and most teas and coffees inc lattes and cappuccinos, shorts (local brands only) and fizzy juice inc, juices also.

Drinks during meals: breakfast you help yourself to water, juice or hot drinks. However lunch and dinner a waiter serves you at your table however me
And my boyfriend found we had sometimes nearly finished our meals before a waiter came over. Not because it was busy either, just because they didn’t know we were there or if we had been served yet, there is no order. Maybe the person at the front should take the order or place people on certain tables and let the waiters know. There wasnt even water available on the table.

On arrival you are provided with a card per person for a towel. This is to be taken to the spa and swapped for a towel. You must swap back that towel and return that card to reception when you check out otherwise you will be charged 25 euro per card. You only get one clean towel for free any addition is 2.50 euro. Bit of a cheek, compared to other hotels i have been too where you at least get a towel a day. I expect more from a 4 star hotel.

When we arrived the outdoor pools were not open but they were opened 2 days in which was great. I don’t know if this was due to the refurb or if they are always closed during off peak months. I hadnt read this anywhere before booking it so this put a downer on our holiday a little bit. There is an indoor spa pool with only 2 hours a day where children are allowed. The out door pools are salt water pools, there are 4, none very deep. There were plenty of sun-beds however we were there off peak so i don’t know of there would be enough during summer. It looked like there was an out door bar also but this was closed for us. Outdoor toilets and showers are near the pools.

There is sun-bed seating looking out to the sea also on private rocks and a small beach a little further up, all within the resort.

The evening area is the bar. There are only a few seats indoors and also some out doors. In my opinion not enough to accommodate the guests. Half of the area instead is for bar/restaurant eating guests only also. We could never find anywhere to sit so ended up going to our room and ordering room service (£5 fee), which we shouldn’t have had to do. The entertainment every night was a man singing. I found all of them boring. To me thats not entertainment just back ground music.

There is a shop in the hotel which isn’t pointed out by staff on arrival and there are no signs. We found this on our last day which we could have done with. Instead of us walking up the road to a bus shop for water.

There is a spa. We asked for a couples massages on the Monday and were told they only had an appointment free in 2 hours or one free on Wednesday. So be aware they maybe fully booked. It maybe possible to book treatments before arriving. The anti stress body massage was so good. Best massage I’ve had.

Malta is a beautiful country. Maybe not at first sight however there is a-lot to see and do. There is a company on sight beside the beach who rent out a 2 man boat for 3 hours for £80. This can be used to travel to Cominos Blue Lagoon which is a must see!

We would return to this hotel, peak time to enjoy the full benefits.

Dear Siobhanls

thank you for finding time to write your review.

We are glad that in general you enjoyed your stay with us.

As you mentioned few issues I would like to clarify them so that next time you come again they wont hinder your enjoyment with us.

Our staff asks for the room numbers everyone, inclusive of AI clients, due to that some of them abuse the situation by not wearing the strap or carrying the card and then giving out wrong room numbers which results in having other clients upset on check out until we verify the bills so we had to introduce this policy. It may sound frustrating to honest clients as yourself but it avoids a lot of issues on the last day to everyone.

You have been here in the shoulder month and as we advertise all our outlets open from May to October. As the weather started getting more stable we decided this year to start opening the outdoor pools one week before. The bar is open as of yesterday 1.5. Our combined pools are licensed to cater for 320 users and once in full action we position enough sunbeds too. Others avail themselves on the rocky areas and the sandy beach so it was always enough for everyone to enjoy their days.

Being in the process to be ECO certified hotel one of our duties is to protect the environment and the minimal charge of Euro 2.50 for changing a pool towel goes towards the aim to protect and improve our environment. Those guests who don't wish to support this initiative are free to keep their towel and exchange again after a week for another one free of charge.

As for the in house shop, we have a sign in the lobby near the ATM machine pointing towards the shop and I am sorry to read that you had to carry all your bought stuff when you could have purchased same in house.

Nevertheless we are looking forward to welcoming you once again in near future with all our outlets open inclusive of the new Turkish Hamam Spa.

Wishing you long life and prosperity

My customers journey in this hotel. The first room we were allocated was 339 overlooking the countryside and some sea view but predominately a car park, when we asked politely for an alternative room we were told it would be an extra 15 euros for a seaview, we went and had a look but we felt it did not warrant the extra payment. . We were told by the hotel staff that no other rooms were available when we told our Rep we would move hotels they suggested a Junior suite for an extra £15 euros per night when we looked it had a beautiful view. So we accepted and stayed. However, the shower in this room was not as powerful as room 339 we had to get the light seen to as they were continually flickering (to be fair they did this quite quickly), The room rattan furniture was stained and quite uncomfortable. We ventured out each day as the only hotel swimming pool was the one in the spa that was bursting with Children and adults it was not the relaxing atmosphere we expected . We obviously hadn't read the Mercury details which should have made it clearer on booking that the pools at the hotel are empty until May. On the plus side the hotel room was cleaned and fresh towels provided each day.
The Restuarant at Breakfast time because everyone was seated inside it was difficult to find seating and particularly at Easter at 9.20 it wa a shame the management team did not witness the mayhem on that day. The staff were working really hard to keep up with the demand of clearing tables and fending off guests that were clearly upset at not having a seat. It apears if you go early in the morning you are ok. The food whilst plentiful and a diverse assortment for every culture at the beginning of breakfast after 9.15 various breads and pastrties run out especially the local bread. As this is a regular occurrence the staff and management might look at ordering sufficient stocks and extra supplies to cater for the amount of guests they have just a suggestion. Unfortunately very often the hot food is barely hot. This is the only 4 star hotel i have been too that does not cook omelettes etc to order. They do provide omelettes which were ok. The evening snacks were very tasty, hot and good portion sizes. A very good service.
The entertainment was ok but not fantastic especialy for a 4 star hotel. With the influx of customers over Easter there were not enough seats to be able to enjoy the entertainment.. It appeared with the opening of the new hotel extension those guests were using our amenities as the new complex did not have entertainment at the time.
I have to agree with other reviews completed that this looks 4 star downstairs but the hotel rooms are 3 star the landings carpets were heavily stained. They were in the process of being replaced. My opinion is that whilst the new hotel is the focus and is new although looking rather clinical in my view. The reception area and furnishings in the rooms and the pillows which are really lumpy and not 4 star material should be updated. I hope the hotel management will take some comments on board as there are a lot of reviewers saying the same things. I imagine when the pools are in use the hotel is a lot more appealing.
The hotel is very near to the Gozo Ferry and so are the bus stops you can buy a ticket from the shop in the hotel. The staff in the hotel were very nice and friendly and efficent. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Malta only 3 other hotels in the area. It also has a very small beach area.

Room tip: The country view looks over a car park will be ok if your not spending much time in your room.
