Much of what I will say has already been said but I always like to give a totally honest opinion of our holiday as we value the reviews when we are looking to book somewhere.
This hotel is most definitely five star. The food, service, cleanliness, grounds and location make it a perfect choice. It is immaculate. We also found the entertainment good which was a surprise as we had seen negative comments. We had also seen comments of the drinks being expensive but believe me if you’re used to going five star they’re not at all. The choice of food is excellent and the two restaurants you could book at no extra charge were very good especially Krystal. These were very easy to book through the very pleasant staff on reception.
The hotel is in an excellent location close to all of the amenities. As for no stunning views having been to all of the Canary Islands I have yet to see anywhere that’s picturesque. It is certainly a more up market area.
This is most definitely an adult hotel. Whilst children are welcome there isn’t really anything for children.
The things I would class as negatives are as the previous reviewers comment about finding a table in the magnolia restaurant. This is a nightmare and a very unpleasant part of your daily routine. At both breakfast and evening meal you have to just walk round aimlessly trying to spot a table that is free. It makes you feel very uncomfortable. You go out in the evening to eat dressed nicely and then have to stroll around searching for somewhere to sit. It is also uncomfortable when you have found a seat as people are looking to see if you have nearly finished. We have never experienced this is any other five star hotel we have been in. Why someone can’t just show you to a table that is free is strange as there was always someone at the entrance.
My other negative comment is the usual one about reserving sunbeds. Firstly at the time of year that we have been there are plenty of beds for everyone and very comfortable ones they are, but you still get people putting towels on from about 7.30am. It’s ridiculas. We like to just go round the pool for a couple of hours in the afternoon but there would be towels on beds that had no one sitting on them at about 2pm and clearly they had not been used all day. This is totally unfair. We have been to hotels such as the sensatori and lopesan hotels where if the bed is left empty for over an hour a card would be placed on the bed. The thing that annoyed us about this was that there are no inflatables allowed in the pools which I agree with in part and one day someone had a small boat in the pool. The lifeguard asked them to remove it rightly so as this is their rule and it ended up with guest relations having to come to the pool to resolve the situation. It did say clearly by the pool that inflatables we’re not allowed so they were only following policy but it also said no reserving sunbeds but this was totally overlooked.
We certainly didn’t let the sunbed or restaurant spoil what was a fantastic holiday. We have been to this same resort now four times staying at five star hotels but the next time we go it will be back to this hotel. It would just be nice to see a couple of changes to make it perfect.

Room tip: The are mainly two storey so if you don’t want to be in the ground floor make sure you request that.

We’ve been to Gran Canaria a few time (9+ years ago when my daughter was young) but this was the first time at this resort and hotel. It ticked most of the boxes for us: we wanted a nice hotel with great dining and facilities and some Autumn sunshine!
The hotel is deserving of its 5 star rating: the welcome and reception staff were outstanding, immaculate grounds and gardens, spotlessly clean including the rooms, 5 great pools to choose from and fabulous dining including 2 speciality restaurants (booked at reception) which are included in the price. Great pool side service for food and drinks too and a reasonably priced spa offering massages and other wellbeing treatments (definitely worth a visit).
Downsides? The location could be more picturesque - you can walk to 2 beaches from here and there are plenty of shops close by if you like designer shopping. We wanted a hotel based holiday so it suited us fine but you could chose to stay in better resorts if you wanted more sightseeing.
My only real complaint with the hotel was the service in the Magnolia restaurant. You don’t get an allocated table which means you can sit where you want to but if you are eating at peak times (circa 8pm), you can find yourself aimlessly wandering around the restaurant finding a table to sit at and the waiters do not assist with this. It’s really not a great service in this regard. In additional, its worth leaving something on the table whilst you are up and down helping yourself to the buffet for breakfast and dinner. One morning, we had left the table to get some additional fruit and when we came back, the table had been cleared for another party. Whilst the waiter was very apologetic, I really don’t expect that standard of service from a 5 star restaurant and we ended up having to move tables.
So, in summary, a beautiful hotel, could be a better location and a little extra attention to service would go a long way.
Would we return? Probably, if we were looking for another Autumn break in the sun and weren’t interested in getting out and about exploring the island.

We have just returned from the Melonares and have enjoyed every moment of our fourteen days spent at the hotel .
The staff are a credit to the Director and her assistant, and every one of them make the hotel run like clockwork.
The food is first class and there is plenty of choice in all of the restaurants, and the bar is well stocked.
Well done all of you and we will see you all next year.

What a fantastic Hotel. It has 4 swimming pools including an Infinity pool for the adults so there was always a spot in the sun by the pool. The towels were sometimes put on the beds by guests as early as 7am! Loads of free changing of towels at the poolside. The Crystal Restaurant and the staff were fantastic. The food was cooked to perfection and the presentation of the food was superb. The only other restaurant we went to was called the Magnolia. This was self service but it was still sumptuous; a wide selection of superbly freshly cooked food - right in front of you... The toilets were extremely well appointed and spotlessly clean. The entertainment was tasteful and not too loud, but our room was opposite the 'stage', so we were glad when everything shutdown at 11pm. There was lots of seating and lounging areas. The bedroom and bathroom were great - Except, the bedroom coffee was vile, absolutely vile; I would say undrinkable! A fridge but no milk, just creamer. The breakfast coffee wasn't much better. For such a posh hotel I don't understand why they don't get an Nespresso pod machine in every room!

Room tip: A sea view room is nice, but it is more expensive and is bathed in Sunshine all day.

After checking in we went to the bar where we were served a nice glass of chilled Cava as a welcome drink.
We were given excellent rooms on the 4th floor with sea views, the rooms are spacious and modern and the bathroom is lovely with twin washbowls and a great rain shower!

Food in the Magnolia restaurant was delicious with so much choice both at Dinner and Breakfast there is something there for everyone with all the different cooking stations.
The staff throughout the hotel were excellent and nothing was too much trouble for them. Thanks to everyone for making our holiday so special.
All in all a great stay and we are looking forward to returning next September!
