Stayed here for a short night on Friday evening.
We could not arrive before reception closed so we called them and got the code to enter the hotel, where we would find our key in an envelop with our name.
When we arrived we could enter, but the envelops missed our name.
We took a key on good luck... that was a bit strange..
The rooms are OK, clean, comfortable,
Good shower.
The breakfast is quite basic, to be honest we expected a bit more.
Eggs were cold, it took some time for somebody to arrive where we could order tea or coffee.
Bur for the rest or was fine.
Decent hotel for short stays, we would consider it again, also because it is readonably priced.

After the unfortunate death of his father Steve, 22-year-old Glen took over the hotel and its restaurant. His mother, Anneke, remains the hostess.
The kitchen of this hotel has always been a good one. Young Glen already helped in the kitchen when he was only 11. When he was 17, he won the Belgian edition of Master Chef and worked for some time in Hof van Cleve, under chef Peter Goossens. He also worked with other star chefs. Glen intended to spend some more years honing his skills with great chefs, but due to the death of his father he has to take the decision to continue the family business or not. He chose for the first - and he does this with great flair.
We dined there last Saturday and the meal was just fantastic. I think Glen will continue to do well and eventually he'll get his own Michelin star(s).

Yesterday evening we went dining in hotel-restaurant Ter Duinen. We've been coming to this restaurant (and also stayed at the hotel) for many years, and it feels like home.
Chef (and proprietor) Steve Van de Walle has always been a good cook, but since his son Glen won the Belgian Master Chef competition, he's got a new drive to create new dishes, along with his son. Btw, this one intends to take over hotel and restaurant.
We went for the gourmet menu, which consisted of four courses. All the dishes were right for the season, and the wine selection consisted of the bes quality wines. Ter Duinen takes its wines from Caves de France, a wine merchant from my home town Dendermonde. They are known for only dealing in quality wines.
The service in both restaurant and hotel is very friendly, as this is a family owned business who work with people they've known for a long time.

Book it now - do not hesitate! I spent hours researching before selecting this hotel and it surpassed all of my expectations. Upon arrival to this charming hotel, I was greeted enthusiastically and warmly by the desk. A beautifully appointed reception area, breakfast room (candles always lit), a lovely sitting area (with Classical music playing) and a dreamy, fairy tale garden courtyard all make this hotel a reason to visit Bruges. The room, itself, was exquisitely appointed, as well as sparkling clean, as well as a pleasant ten minute walk to the square along the canal. The window opening onto the canal made it extra dreamy. Furthermore, it was the most generous and attentive service I'd met with on my travels around Europe. Every restaurant and activity suggestion given by the delightful owners of this hotel was above and beyond my expectations. Every detail of my stay was managed with care and kind attention. The breakfast is to die for, with the most polite and friendly wait staff. Hotel Ter Duinen really sets the standard high - and for such a reasonable fee. My heart is grateful, Hotel Ter Duinen, as there is nothing like feeling received into the warmth of a hotel that feels more like home when you are in fact so far away from home.

Room tip: Choose a canal view room if possible -- garden view would be delightful, too.

This is just 1 street back from the beach in the one way system of Heist not really part of Knokke. Limited parking is available on the street in front of the hotel but not much. Reception was pleasant enough and we were given keys to room 22. When we entered, it was 2 singles despite me having booked a double. the room was changed for a double on the first floor room 9. This was TINY. No more than 18 inches either side of the bed and at the end near the "desk"(more a shelf really) and wardrobe. The bed itself was obviously old and past it's best, being very soft and unsupportive. There was also a wall socket hanging out of the wall, a potential hazard for sure. The bathroom was OK but it didn't have a proper shower, just a shower attachment hung on the wall at the side of the bath you had to hold. With no shower screen of any kind, it could get a bit messy. Breakfast was fairly good with a good selection of breads, cold meats, 3/4 cereals and a fresh fruit salad. For 95 euro's it definitely was not value for money. I have stayed in MUCH better hotels at this price.

Room tip: See if they have any good size rooms! They will try to "upgrade" you to a "suite". Not really sure how good that would be.
