We read excellent things online but I don’t think we saw the best side of this restaurant, and it wasn’t for lack of trying!
We tried to make a reservation in advance by emailing twice, no reply, and we called 3 times in the 2 days before our visit, again no reply.
We arrived on the night and it was very early - we were the third table to arrive - so we took a seat outside and waited for the waiter who arrived and said immediately that the restaurant was fully booked for the evening and we would have to leave. I think maybe because we don’t speak any Italian we didn’t get off on the best foot with the waiter. We asked if any of the other tables outside were available (because they were all empty...) and the waiter huffed and looked angry we had asked, before saying we could have another table outside but only if we were finished within an hour. We had heard great things, so decided to give it a try!
We ordered from the menu and prepared ourselves for a quick meal. 5 minutes later the couple who had booked the table we originally sat at arrived, complained they didn’t want to be outside, and moved inside. So the table we originally sat at, is now empty again.
Not only did the waiter not offer us this table, literally 2 minutes later he let another couple walk in and sit down at the very same table!
I think he saw an opportunity to make a quick buck out of us, whilst giving us no attention and trying to rush us out.
Eventually the food arrived, our octopus was clearly frozen and chewy and not fresh, and when we asked the waiter if it was fresh or where they caught it from he said shhhh! and walked away to avoid having to answer!
The rest of the meal was fine and the wine was ok, but we really suffered with bad customer service and lack of manners from the staff.
