5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2012

Stayed at the Redcastle for two nights B&B and really enjoyed the experience. Check in staff were very friendly and efficient. We then were met with a member of staff called Gerry who took our bag and escorted us to our room, such a lovely touch, and much appreciated. Room was warm, clean and with everything you would need. Although we did not have a sea view there was a lovely area downstairs where you were able to sit and enjoy it. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Quality and quantity was fantastic. Had an evening meal in the bar area which, although was very busy, we enjoyed. Only thing was portion sizes are not overly big. Used the pool which was very relaxing and at times this can be quite busy with children but again they do operate adult only times. All staff are extremley helpful and friendly and Gerry is such an asset to the hotel. Would most certainly recommend the Redcastle if you just wanted to get away for a relaxing break.

Dear Guest
Thank you for your review. It is lovely to read such positive feedback and it is great to read also that a member of the team made such an impact on your overall stay. We are always improving and developing our product and we do this mostly through our customer feedback and comments. I will certainly pass your comments regarding the bar food portions to the kitchen team. I hope to see you in the hotel again soon.

We checked in to the hotel in the middle of February.
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised with the very spacious, well furnished room. On the downside we felt that it was poorly lit and it also felt quite cold. The staff were quick to help us deal with this issue but unfortunately the radiator was very slow to heat up as the central heating was on a rotational system. Eventually we were provided with a blow heater.
Although we were advised that WiFi was not included in the room rate, we weren't actually charged any extra for accessing it. I would advise clarifying this with the reception staff when booking or checking in.
By far the best thing about the hotel was the restaurant. Breakfast was adequate but the evening meal was outstanding. We would definitely recommend dining here rather than going elsewhere.
Unfortunately our room was not cleaned on the second day. We had to phone to reception a couple of times just to get clean towels sent up. In fairness the staff were very apologetic about this.
We also availed of the hotel spa as it was included in our deal at a discounted rate. We opted for a couples massage. Again we would highly recommend this. The staff were professional and the whole experience was very positive.
Thanks to our Groupon deal we benefited from a huge discount which effectively halved the price we would have paid ordinarily. Overall we would have expected more from a four star hotel considering the usual rates per room.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask for a sea view when booking.

We have just returned from a family mid term break at Redcastle. On the whole the hotel was really good. Breakfast was excellent on both mornings. We ate in the bar on the first night and it was average but thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had on the 2nd night in The Edge. The staff at reception, the bar, the restaurant and swimming pool were helpful and friendly. However we found the Family Bedroom we were given did not match to the standards in the rest of the hotel. Firstly, a sofa bed was made up prior to our arrival for our children, a 12 year old girl and a 10 year old boy, So naturally this was not appropriate. My husband slept, and I use that term loosely on the sofa bed on the first night. The mattress was pathetic and the metal frame could be felt through the mattress which was well worn and only a matter of inches deep. I spoke to the receptionist the following morning about having the bed or mattress changed to something more acceptable and she agreed to pass the message to housekeeping...unfortunately they didn't sort the problem and we heard nothing further. Other small issues within the room were that the lamp beside the sofa bed balanced precariously on the floor, the tap in the bathroom was loose as was the flush on the toilet. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working. I would describe the room as shabby. The furniture was dated and well worn. Small details I know but they matter and contribute to the overall holiday experience. We have often visited the Inishowen area but this was the first time we had stayed at The Redcastle. I would recommend the hotel but would also advise to check the room allocation as perhaps other rooms have been refurbished and are more comfortable.

My Fiancee and I stayed at the Redcastle 12-14th Feb (Valentines weekend). The positives were as follows:- Food excellent, friendly staff, good facilities such as pool etc and room size good.
Two things however spoilt our stay the first being that it was Valentines weekend we were on a break from the kids however were given an adjoining room with a family with small children who screamed, cried and slammed doors for most of our stay and this at 7.30am!! The second thing was we had 2 single beds pushed together!! We were informed by a member of bar staff that the beds should have been "zipped" together however they were not so as you can imagine wasnt a pleasant experience not even a double duvet cover but 2 singles!!. I would like to suggest that the reservations team be a bit more aware when allocating rooms and appreciate that couples on a romantic break away from their own kids do not want to be tortured with other peoples, Only for those issues this would have been a 5 star review so its a bit of a shame

Room Tip: if travelling child free request rooms away from other children

We had a lovely stay at the Redcastle we have not been there for about 10 years it has had a great face lift, The staff were lovely and the food was fantastic. We had a room with a sea view and this made it very enjoyable. When we arrive they had left a plate with four chocolates on it with 'welcome back' written i chocolate a lovely touch.

Room Tip: Would recommend room 204 or similar room with sea view.
