“Lovely Easter break”

My family of 5 had a lovely stay at this house in a picturesque village on the Mosel river. The house was well appointed and comfortable, accommodating us all very easily. The children were taken by the games room at the top of the house which is well equipped. It was an excellent base to explore the area. 15 minutes from Traban-Trabach in one direction (good bike hire) and 10 minutes from Zell (Globus supermarket is recommended!), Berkastel-Kues about 30 minutes away and worth a visit as was Trier about an hour away. We arrived on a Saturday evening and it's worth noting that the village was quiet at this time of year and we were caught out by the Monday closed day for restaurants! I'm sure if we'd travelled a bit further afield we'd have found one open. The local pizzeria was nice (open Sunday) as was the local bakery and gift shop on the main shopping road near the butchers. We would recommend this to anyone interested in exploring the region like us and we'd consider a return visit to the Blue House in Enkirch if going back to the area.

“Ideal Base for Exploring Mosel”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The Blue House is a large family home ideal for exploring the Mosel from Trier to Koblenz. Enkirch is a pretty village with a few shops and restaurants but is not a tourist trap which makes it an ideal place to stay and live like the locals- who are all very friendly.
The house has every thing you could want including bikes. The middle floor is set up with children in mind and has a TV with English channels, DVDS, books and games to keep them entertained. The top floor has a large lounge with views over the grapevines and a fridge to keep supplies for a relaxing evening.
Outside the small garden is a suntrap and is a very enjoyable place to have breakfast. The kitchen has every thing you need for preparing meals.
From Enkirch you can be in Trier in around an hour and Koblenz is only a little further. Traben Trabach has a good range of supermarkets and the award winning butcher in Enkirch is well worth a visit.
We love this area and would not hesitate in recommending the Blue House as a base to explore the beautiful Mosel.
Tim & Marnie were so helpful especially when we had a crisis the week before we were due to arrive and thought we would have to cancel. Luckily we didn't as we would have hated to have to miss our holiday in this lovely house.

“A place to relax with you Family.”

Normally, our family vacation is usually a scenario of trying to keep our three boys (11, 9, 9) entertained for the duration of the holiday; and for once, we can say that this was accomplished, a real feat in it’s self.
Firstly, the house.
It is spacious to say the least; it could accommodate two moderate size families. One the first floor is the ‘Den’ this is where the boys like to spend their down time during the day watching TV(UK Channels) without their parents looking over their shoulders (well maybe just a bit :) ) In the evenings we would all be on the second floor watching one of the many Children’s DVD which are available or watching a bit of TV. It is on this floor that us parents could sit on the balcony and enjoy a few glasses of the local wine (€3.49) whilst keeping an eye on the boys.
There are two main bedrooms on the ground floor. Initially I thought this strange, until the evening and found how cool they were, which led to a peace night sleep. Also there is a sauna in the attic,
The Kitchen is new and fully equipped.

Secondly, the Area.

Enkirch itself is a quiet, quaint, Historical village with houses dating back to the late 13th century. It has its own Tourist information centre, with staff which speaks English. It is here that you can buy Broadband access (€5.00 for a week) if you bring your own laptop, or use the PC in the office.
If you travel a few miles out of the village will bring you to either Zell or Traben-Trarbach depending if you go left our right. Both of these larger towns which lie on the Mosel River have their own characteristics. There is an indoor swimming pool with diving board and slide at Zell and an outdoor at Krov which is about 2 miles from Traben-Trarbach., which also has a slide, which is 60m long, the boys loved this during the hot weather

If you fly to Frankfurt –Hahn airport you’re only 9 miles from the House, which is really handy.

We had a wonderful time at The Blue House and we are already making plans to go back in 2014
