We stayed at the Ferienalm Hotel last week from 26th May to 2nd June. Even though we were not expected (The holiday company hadn't booked us in) we had the most wonderful holiday. The staff couldn't do enough for us. The waiters were always cheerful. Ingrid on the desk in the morning was lovely and made sure we knew were we were going each day directing us to the right bus and giving us options for different trips etc. We were worried about our meals as my partner is diabetic and I don't eat red meat but we needn't have worried the meals were wonderful. We always found something to eat and enjoyed all the meals, We had lovely views from the hotel balcony as the hotel is on an elevated position and the rooms are very comfortable.

Room tip: Choose a room with a balcony and good views

We stayed here in March 2018 as a party of 5 in 2 rooms. One of the staff was a bit abrupt, but it was generally friendly. A bit strange that the bar area was not staffed and you had to buy beer in the dining area instead. Good selection for breakfast, and dinner was typically Austrian with 3 courses - not fine dining, but ok and plenty to eat.The house wine in caraffes was not great. Rooms were a good size and clean. The main problem with the hotel is that it is up a hill on the other side of the valley to the ski slopes and is a 20 minute walk to the town centre. The buses are not very frequent and stop early. Good views from the hotel rooms facing the resort. It was also odd they could not give us an itemised bill at the end of our stay for the extras we had eaten/drunk during the week.

Room tip: Ask for a room facing the resort

I spent a week at the Ferienalm skiing with my Dad and some friends.
The taxi driver from Salzburg struggled to find he place at first, but when we did arrive it was to a very warm welcome.
The room was a good size, comfortable and warm, even during some very cold weather. The view from our room was great.
The food in the evening was excellent and he breakfast was very good.
The Ferienalm is a very good 15 minute walk from the centre of town and the ski lifts, and the bus service could be better, but we coped. And a slightly more lively bar would make up for the distance from town.

Very nice and comfortable hotel. The room was good, the food choices were slightly limited but we all found things we liked every day. The views over Schladming were excellent.
The bar area was small and closed very early. We were also a little concerned about the location out of the town but being able to hire lockers at the base of the ski slopes resolved any issues leaving it the walk down a very easy 10 minute walk and the walk back a nice 15 minute walk.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Would certainly be very happy to stay there again.

stayed here in late January. Ingrid and sophie on front desk extremely helpful and pleasant, Donat and the restaurant team helpful and efficient. View from balcony was exceptional, we watched the night slalom from our room! Food was good and relieved to not have any problems over paying for water. It takes about 15 minutes to walk into town via the footpath (depending on which part of town you want) but wouldn't want to try it in ski boots. More buses in morning and late afternoon would be good. House wine and other drinks very reasonably priced. Will happily stay here again
