This is a beautiful building with exudes bucket loads of character and charm.. its origins date back beyond the Norman Invasion of 1066 to Saxon times... However, much of what you will experience was carefully and sympathetically re-built in the late 1920s using much of the reclaimed material from the Medieval building that existed previously..
The hotel is in private hands and this surely enhances its individual appeal and of course as previously mentioned.. its Charm.
We stayed in the EARL OF NORTHUMBERLAND suite .. what can I say ? Cavernous..!.. With the main room being more than 30 x 17 feet with separate anti room, walk in closet and, a huge bathroom.
There are beautiful Gardens to the rear of the building reminiscent of Capably Brown However, no matter where you stay you will not be overlooked
The Breakfast choice consist of Vegetarian, Typical English and, Continental so plenty of choice..
The restaurant décor is typically 1500 s in design and the menu is excellent as is the Wine List and, overseen by Executive Chef. BYRON Hayter ,
