We regularly need a stop-over hotel with restaurant near Lyons, and were delighted to have found the Hotel Rolland in Montagnieu. Like other reviewers, we received a warm welcome and even managed to have a decent chat with one of the members of staff in our rather hesitant French. We particularly liked being able to have a drink in the cafe/bar within the hotel. Our bill came to just under 150€ but this included breakfast, a meal for two and a good bottle of local Chardonnay (15€). The food was nicely cooked - for example, my husband had an excellent fish soup, and I had a tasty local chicken dish. Parking in an open compound with key-code was free. In comparison to many other places we have stayed in, we thought the total package represented excellent value for money.
Our ground-floor room was spacious enough, the shower-room was compact but clean, with a separate WC/toilet. We asked for a room overlooking the garden, and despite being light sleepers, we had a good night's sleep. We are looking forward to our next stay.More
