First of all if you're looking for a lively active holiday this is probably not for you but if you want a lounging around reading sunbathing eating good food type trip then this is the spot.

We booked through Expedia as we couldn't get the week we wanted with Thomas cook.
Hotel arranged a taxi from the airport for 75 euro each way possibly a bit dearer than going rate but took away a bit of hassle. 45 min trip to Lindos. Got complimentary upgrade to princess seafront room. Glass of bubbly on arrival. Taken to room in golf cart and had a wee tour. 2 lovely pools and a shingle beach. Most people went to the beach and pools only ever had 3-4 couples around them. Comfortable sun beds. We stayed 14th -21st October and were a bit concerned about weather. It was perfect . High 20s all week no cloud. Never too hot or ever cold in evenings. Place is adult only. A mixture of young lovers but mainly 50 somethings finally free from child care and some older couples seemed to be a mixture of Germans British and a few French. 2 casual restaurants one Italian one Greek. Good food salads filled baguettes baked feta etc. Nice house wine 7euro a glass food reasonable price . Breakfast buffet is great - fruit yoghurts omelette station cold cuts cheese cereal etc . Dinner also great wide variety of salads meat fish and veggie dishes. I checked online and half board only 54 euro dearer for a week! Good desserts home made snicker bars etc. Wine 7.50 a glass but wide range expensive wines. Believe me you will over eat. We skipped lunch last 2 days realising we were eating 1000 calories a day on top of our usual intake. Burn it off on a walk to lindos it is a bit of a hike but not too bad 30 min walk. 6-7euro in cab. Lindos itself is lovely as is St. Paul's bay. 40 minute walk to pefkos which is a bit more touristy. Half board is so reasonable you don't mind skipping it one night - we went to Timis place in lindos great vegetarian mezze Friendly staff any issues addressed immediately. Hotel open May- October. Many rooms have private pools possibly explaining quietness of hotel pools. I felt a private pool could make you a bit isolated from everyone else. Evening entertainment in a beautiful bar every night. Would definitely revisit. Bring a couple of books.

Room Tip: You don't need a private pool.

This is a luxury hotel about 25 minutes walk outside Lindos. The resort is packed into a fairly small plot but the landscaping is really lovely and there are many ancient olive trees dotted throughout the property.

Our room was large with a spacious balcony and a view directly out to sea. The decor was 'contemporary hotel design' so lots of beige, but the bed was super-kingsize and extremely comfortable and the 'prestige' pillow, which replaced the original very squishy ones, was perfect.

There were a few little niggles with the room though - the kettle and coffee machines were on the opposite side of the room from the sockets and only one of each double socket seemed to work so I had to unplug the beside lamp to charge my phone! There was a nice large wardrobe but no full length hanging space and while the bathroom was spacious and very nicely decorated, with bath, large shower and a separate loo, the shower leaked under the glass wall into the toilet area and the lighting was too dim to effectively use the bathroom mirror.

The breakfast buffet was extensive with cooked and Continental options and a lot of pastries and the local yoghurt and cheeses were excellent. Sadly, the same fruits were available each day - pineapple, pink grapefruit and kiwi - why do luxury European hotels think they should serve tasteless out of season tropical fruits rather than delicious ripe local apricots and peaches? However, the service in the VIP room of the restaurant was exemplary - before we'd even been seated each morning our waiter had already delivered the jugs of coffee, hot water and hot milk we'd requested on day one!

One area that really does need improving is the fitness room - it really isn't up to spec for a hotel of this calibre. There were a few CV machines, one multi-gym and some free weights but the kit was old and desperately in need of servicing - the cross trainer made a squealing sound like a pig was being slaughtered and the multi-gym also made a grinding sound. Most early evenings the gym was full so the demand is there and as there are no other exercise options on offer and there is no real beach to walk along, our nightly walk into town was the only real chance to stretch our legs and luckily there's a pavement all of the way and the road is well lit. However, if you just want a lazy holiday we'd definitely recommend this hotel which is probably the best in Lindos.

See photos below. - We woke to a stunning sunrise on our first morning. The hotel is very modern with lots of nice touches. The outside dining area is smart and roomy. The pools have stunning backdrops. The white chairs at one end of the beach light up at night. The inside dining room is also stunning. If you like snorkelling you will love the rocky area beyond the beach - there were thousands of fish - I snorkelled every day. The staff are the best I have encountered in the hundreds of hotels I have stayed in. I will be back.

Room Tip: Book a sea view room

We’re writing this on our last night at the aqua grand, having had a wonderful week here for our honeymoon.
Firstly, we were presented with delicious bubbly on arrival and were told we’d been upgraded - a fantastic surprise. The staff were so polite and friendly - a theme that continued all week, come night or day. Nothing was too much for them, even our lovely cleaner who we chatted with every day.
Breakfast provided the usual cooked and continental choices - hoorah for baked beans in Greece! We also had a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice brought to our table every morning which was a lovely touch. Our only criticism was most mornings we went without our cup of tea due to the fact the hot water wasn’t hot enough to brew in!!
We chose to eat at the beach cafe/bar one day which was very nice - good choice, but portions, good prices and quick service. We opted to get room service a few times too, which always arrived within half an hour and was presented well, tasted great and was really cheap when compared with other top hotels we’ve stayed at in Greece.
Location is obvious from the map and we enjoyed a 25 minute walk into Lindos for dinner most evenings. We had a car so also popped to nearby Pefkos a couple of times as shops are more accessible here, rather than the hidden, cobbled maze of streets in lindos.
Wi-fi was particularly good and we were given water in our room every day. However, the gym was mentioned as being particularly well-equipped in the hotel info - something that was a slight over-statement. It’s fine to lift a few weights or use a treadmill but is very small, has limited kit and should be bigger and better in what is an otherwise faultless hotel.
We would give the aqua grand more than 5 stars if we could! Thank you to the team for a honeymoon from heaven. Xx
