We took a detour on our way to Cadiz and went for Sandemans, we learned a lot about Sherry and the brand and enjoyed the tapas and tasting afterwards. The prices were reasonable even in the shop as we bought some sherry as well :)

We arrived in the afternoon and were only English speaking couple to turn up. Got what was a " private " tour. Our guide was knowledgeable about Sandeman family but also had an indepth knowledge on cask making and relationship with whiskey making - very informative,
Sherry tasting on our own was a bit " quiet" but we were never rushed even if we the last visitors on the day.
Close to equestrian school which is closed on Wed.

Since we had been to Sandeman cellars in Porto (Oporto - Portugal) some years ago and enjoyed the visit, we decided to go to their "bodega" in Jerez as well. The Fundación Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre is very close, we went there just after the morning horse show. We chose the ticket that allowed us to taste three kinds of sherry and tapas and did not regret because it was lunch time. Just make sure to schedule the horse show at a day of the week that allows you to have a tour in the language of your preference (Spanish, English, French or German) just before or after it. Also don't forget to visit their carriage museum next to the bodega (separate tickets)

Visited this bodega after the Andalucían horse show round the corner. I usually find guided tours excruciatingly boring, lead by those who love the sound of their own voice. However, Alicia was otherwise - concise, patient and with fluent English. We had one of the premium tasters [7 sherries and 2 brandies for 22€] and one of just 4 Sherries, and tapas. It was most enjoyable.
