We were visiting Sevilla for the weekend, and for a birthday treat, wanted to do something different for my partner. I have been wine tasting in the US before so thought this could be fun. We booked Sandeman's as you don't need to book (unless you're a solo traveller) and all the other Bodegas ask for advanced booking - just check what dates and times they have tours via their website. The cost of the tours was very good, with various options depending on how much sherry you wanted to taste. We chose the top choice (7 sherries and 2 brandies), but without the tapas. The tour was good, albeit brief, i would have loved to actually see some sherry making in action! despite this, the tour was informative and learnt how they make sherry and the way they get the different types. At the end of the tour, they seat you at tables with your choice of sherry. they varied from dry to sweet and were all good. we left a bit light headed, so make sure you don't drive! (The rail station is only a 15-20 minute walk away). We left purchases three bottles to take with us. Very much worth a quick trip from Sevilla. Jerez as a city is nice, but not as nice as Sevilla, so a day trip i think was enough for us.

My sister and I did a tour and tasting at The House of Sandeman the day after we did a tour of a much smaller boutique Bodega.

The guide was very informative and she was able to impart some interesting points and information that I had not picked up from the tour the previous day.

The tastings are very generous and I now have a much better appreciation of sherry, its production and the important role it plays in Jerez's history and culture.

Four of us visited here. Two did the german tour, their guide was very informative, animated and knowledable.

On the english tour our guide was Patricia. We were rushed round the little they had to show. Given no time to read any information boards.

She gave us very little information except repeating the percentage of the 3 different grapes that make up their sherrys, seemed like it was bring drilled into us and passing a 30 year old cork round for us to smell... smelt like old sherry cork!

The whole experience felt like she wasnt interested in her job. The mission was to get us to a board with the pictures of the sherrys they sold as quick as possible.

When it came to the tasting, we had 3 sherrys to try. All from the same glass!

The only information provided was, "this is a 3 whatever year old sherry and its a percentage of this grape and that one"

They do have different levels of sherrys to try, so the more you pay the more you try. But the tour is the same.

When choosing a sherry tour in jerez I wouldn't go here.

There are 3 tours, we took the 22 euro tour which is exactly the same as the 8 and 15 euro tours, except the end where 9 very good 'samples' await. The measures are excellent, and I suggest if you are the driver, find public transport!
We drank the contents of our water bottles to take some of the samples home as we would have been carried out.

We chose the premium tour which is the same just as the standard but with premium tasting (€15 each, you get four rather than three tastings and each tasting is aged).
Great tour (not overly long) which is very informative, helping you understand the overall processes, differences and comparison to standard wine making.
Tastings were very good and of a good size.
We also had the tapas option which is a little overpriced.
Overall, very good and worth a visit if you like sherry.
