Alicia presented a clear discussion of winemaking and types of grapes. She was most convivial. This was a wonderful experience especially for sherry drinkers.

This was a fascinating experience and better executed than I was expecting. Alicia, our guide was very fluent in English and keen for us to ask questions. Her knowledge was extensive and it was all very informative. It cost E8 for an adult and E3.50 for an under 18 who got grape juice at the end rather than any sherry to drink. We just turned up for an English tour 20 mins early for an English tour ( din't book in advance). Following the tour we were given generous tastings of fino, medium and sweet sherry with a bowl of olives and crisps which was a very nice touch. I would definitely recommend and enjoyed it so much it would encourage me to visit another bodega on another trip to extend my knowledge. The climate, soil and non-interference with the whole process id amazing and unusual in this day and age.

Excellent, informative tour and tasting of Sandeman sherrys. The tours leave in the 1/2 hour in English and on the hour in Spanish. Explanation of sherry making process. Our guide was well versed and could answer all questions. Sherry tasting good if you like sherry.

Similar to other reviews of this attraction we found this Bodega to be informative about the process of Sherry making and Sandeman in particular. We chose tasting the standard three sherries for €8 each but there are more options to choose from including brandies. The cost for children or teens is €3.50 for the tour plus a glass of grape juice (not legally able to drink sherry).

We also took the option of tapas (€8 per platter) with the sherry tasting. This consisted platters of cheese and ham, a bowel of olives, crisps (chips) and miniature bread-sticks. The tapas brought out the taste even more not to mention that it was lunchtime! We basically had a personal tour as it was quiet at the time we visited. Our tour guide, Alicia was excellent and had good English. Even teens held an interest - it was not criticized as boring!

The tour itself is approx 30 - 45 min but it will be longer if tapas is chosen. A visit to the shop is a must to take away some bottles of sherry.

Parking was not an issue as free street parking was available.

Really interested in taking kids to places which are definitely Spanish and a trip to one of the sherry bodegas was definitely on the cards this year.
Entering Jerez, there is quite a choice of Bodegas, but we'd found Sandeman on TripAdvisor, so we headed for there, despite the opening times on Google saying it was closed on Tuesday (the Sandeman website said open).
Sandeman is situated opposite to the museum of horse art (a museum containing old carriages and also stables of beautiful Andalusian horses).
There are price differences, based on the tasting at the end of the tour (starting at €8). Kids are charged just €1 to go on the tour. You can also add Tapas at an extra charge. We were thankful of this, to keep the kids happy, whilst we got to taste the good stuff.
Tours are available in Spanish, German, French or English. The English tour was great. The guide seemed to depart loads of information, which rattled along at a comfortable pace, always accompanied by the beautiful sherry aroma. The tour isn't massively long, but really, really interesting.
Only one message of caution: the tour times on Sandeman's website actually differ from the tour times when you're actually there. If you're aiming for the last tour of the day, turn up early just in case.
