It is nice to stay in a bespoke hotel with a bit of character whilst on business, it's too easy to pick a chain hotel in the same area. This hotel was about £40 A night cheaper than a well known chain hotel nearby. The hotel has lovely grounds and a charming court yard with the restaurant on the other side of the courtyard. The restaurant is rustic and has a reasonably large menu but I struggled to pick a starter from the short list. There is an open type fire in the lower restaurant which is very nice but some of the tables are close to it.
The staff are well trained and pleasant. The rooms look a bit dated but they are more cosy than the cloned rooms in other hotels.
The only negative bit was the bar after having eaten in the restaurant. it lacks a bit of atmosphere and the TV dominates the room.More
