Compared to other Scandic hotels, Scandic Gardermoen was a disappointment. The room was tiny, with poor noise insulation (Only book the 4-person room if you 1. Have no private space, because unless you take turns standing up, you will stand weirdly close to your traveling partners and 2. Love having people listening to you poop). Also the breakfast was poorly organised. The food was left out for hours and there was no refills of the most popular foods.

No where near the standard associated with the Scandic brand. The rooms were small and smelled a bit funny. Only half of the bedlights worked and there were no ceiling lamp.
Next day the breakfast looked like it had been sitting out for quite some time, as the moist food was all starting to form weird crusty membranes and the bread was dry. There was no smoothies or waffles or other regular Scandic lunch treats.
I was happy to leave.

for a scandic, it was very poor.room not clean(got photo's of it), airco broken (no word about it by checking inn) ! on 10 of july 28c in the room could'nt sleep ! 1month later( we where back,pre booked) and airco still broken! we do get a vantilator this time but you had to ask for it and again the glass in the bathroom had old toothpast in there from the last guest :-( it was very cheap to stay but is it worth that ??? breakfast was great best ever!!

As a bare minimum, a hotel should be a place where you can get a good night’s sleep. That is the ESSENCE of a hotel. Otherwise you might as well sleep in your car, right? I would have slept just as poorly in my car, to be honest. It was a hot night, the air conditioning was broken, there weren’t enough fans - that would have been bad enough. But the hotel looks out on a parking lot area shared by a 24-hour McDonald’s and a gas station, both of which serve as a hangout for local teens. If you stay here, be prepared for scooters and motorcycles revving and racing up and down far into the night, noisy groups shouting and shrieking, and couples sitting in cars with the motor running and headlamps shining into the hotel rooms.

We ended up shutting the window despite the heat, but it was still loud. The unforgivable thing for a hotel in Scandinavia was the lack of blackout blinds, so hello sunshine at 4am (when it had finally quieted down). Yes, there were thick curtains, but that’s not the same as blackout curtains, and the lack is not acceptable in a professional hotel.

The breakfast was okay, but the oatmeal was the worst I’ve ever tasted. I had no idea oatmeal could taste so foul!

Apparently, the air conditioning has been broken for a while. I can understand that it can be difficult to get things repaired sometimes, but there should at least be fans. I talked to the reception at 1am, and the clerk said that originally, there had been enough fans, but that some had been stolen by guests. That’s not okay, but even more, why make future guests suffer? Why not buy more? It seems like very poor management.

On a positive note, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. I just wish it had been possible to sleep.
