The camp ground is directly by the fjord, and offers plenty of space to pitch your tent. Be there a bit early to make sure to get a flat spot!

Facing west, one gets also plenty of afternoon/evening sun, with fantastic views over the fjord. The small nearby city of Sogndal is maybe 2-3 km away, and easily explored by bike from the camp ground.

The kitchen and the toilets/showers are new and clean; but there could be more of them!

Thank you for Your Nice feedback! We are Lucky to welcome lots of Nice guests, but we admit that we do have a problem to "deliver" enough toilets & showers. We will try to follow what the market demands; and improve...

We enjoyed our stay here. We had a tent and we found a great spot close to sanitary house. It got more busy closer to the evening. It was quet and we spent two nights here. There were not many activities in the camping itself, but we just wanted to relax so we didn't miss it.

Thank you for Your Nice feedback! We are Lucky to have lots of Activity Companies in the nearby.....Our site is just a Central position from where to reach the national attractions, walk in the Mountains/ bicycle, or just chill by the shore of the Sognefjord....

This place was awesome. We stayed here in the off season which was a good decision. The location is magical. Beautiful views everyday you look.

The reception staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We got a site on the waters edge and were blown away. I love Norway!

The kitchen facilities were amazing! They had a lot of seating, space, clean, tidy! The heating was good, there was a fridge, oh and did I mention the views? They even had tables and chairs on a patio.

The washrooms were small but very functional! And the wifi was fine!

If you find yourself near Kaupanger or Sogndal or on the way to the Kaupanger-Gudvangen ferry definitely try this place out!

Stayed here as part of our road trip to Norway in a motor home. The site sits on the banks of the fjord and is in an idilic location that's a brilliant spot to wake up and look out of the window on.

The amenities are good and we used the washer and dryer which did a great job of both.

Would recommend the site to anyone looking for a nice, clean place to rest up and to have a fantastic view in the morning!

Kjørnes Camping is the kind of campsite you have in mind when planning a camping trip to Norway. Overlooking the Sognefjord, the grass / asphalted terraced field is most of the time delimited for motorhomes and caravans. The view is spectacular and watching the sun setting over the surrounding mountains, a campers delight. The sanitary block is modern, clean and well maintained. It mainly consists of private cabins featuring a toilet and a shower. But during the peak season, the number of toilets and showers is just to small. We also used one of the two washer (30min program). But had to get though the excruciating, unbearable rush hour wait to use the one and only dryer in the whole campsite. We spent the afternoon waiting for a 30 minute dryer program ! The campsite also offers free Wifi but doesn’t work at all, even under the Wifi antenna. The access road to the campsite is dangerous. It’s very narrow and large enough for only one motorhome at time. There are bypasses but equally small. The access is clearly undersized for the peak season. One advice : drive slowly. Sogndal is reachable by bicycle. But you’ll have to ride on the narrow access road to come to the marked bicycle path along the main road. Once you get there, the ordeal is far from over : the last obstacle is a steep uphill bridge with no bike path and extremely deteriorated asphalt at the entrance of Sogndal. But once you get there, there’s an information center, a great supermarket, a Clas Ohlson and a Intersport.

Kjørnes Camping remains one of the best campsite we stayed at in Norway. On the route from Bergen to Ålesund, it is a convenient stop over to visit the area (Urnes and Kaupanger Stavkirke, Lerum Museum, etc.) and explore the surrounding mountains on foot or MTbike. We especially recommend the trail leading from the campsite’s gate to Kaupanger, a true gem for trail runners or simply for hikers, young and old.

Thank you for Your detailed review! You have given adequate info concerning many details, which I agree in, but would like to add some comments...
First of all we are humbled and grateful to receive this large amount of guests every year, in and increasing number every year...
We have a beautiful and picturesque location by the Sognefjord (also seen through the eyes of the natives) We are happy to share this with our guests.
Our main target is to try to improve and deliver what the guests ask for (and pay for)
The small road to the site (500 m) is a typical access road in the district part of Norway, not easy to improve (make wider)
There is a new bridge finishing next year (before the centre of Sogndal)
Concerning biking and hiking: I think we do have one of the best offers (in the country) for this located in Sogndal and its surroudings!!
