Recommended by a female (French) friend of mine, I highly recommend this restaurant !

The location is great, an open terrace by the Garonne river.

On booking the restaurant (we were running a bit late due to holiday traffic jams) they said we could arrive by 13h30 or even 13h45 and not have to leave until 15h30, or later !

We arrived at 13h30 and were very warmly welcomed. They even asked immediately if I would like some water for my (small) dog.

All the tables on the terrace closest to the water were occupied, so we sat elsewhere. But, on their own kind initiative, ten minutes later they said a table close to the water had become free and cleaned it for us.

We chose the set menu at 37€ which, bearing in mind the quality, we found to be very good value. Four courses :

A dozen oysters between the two of us. Not the largest oysters I've had, but tasty and fresh.

Second course was a help yourself seafood buffet (cold), assiette de fruits de mer. Very good selection and quality. Fresh (unlike some buffets I've seen) and you could go back several times.

Third course was a selection of fish. I had dorade. My friend had sole. Very good but not exceptional.

Dessert was home made profiteroles, which completed the meal well.

So, in summary, great location, excellent service and very good quality food. Highly recommended !

You cannot describe this restaurant without resorting to superlatives . What is written by others is accurate and true so no need to repeat.
When if passing through this part of Fance you need to stay close to the motorway Begles is ideal, but beware at weekends some hotels do not serve dinner so you have to go out looking.
This is how we found Merci and what a treat it is. We will be back but next time we will starve ourselves all day so as to do the menu justice!

The view of the Garonne alone should be enough of a draw, but they spared no expense with the high ceilings and modern table and serving counter design.

Other TA opinions have dissed the seafood as not being fresh. My reply to that is that these people have obviously not eaten much seafood in their life, because the cherrystone clams and mussels tasted like they were just out of the ocean!

There were 2 varieties of crab, bulots, bigorneaux, shrimp, langoustines - you name it, they had it.

The main courses of white fish and spiced squid were ok, but you come here for the piles of seafood at dirt cheap prices, and amazing quality at that!

This is a great place for sea food lovers to eat as much as they want from all the sea food offered in this restaurant (sea snails, various, cockles, clams and other kinds of shells, all the way to shrimps, langoustines, gambas and crabs, along with yummy french home made mayo with garlic, tomato based sauces....yum yum!

Before the buffet, you get warmed up with oysters and fries.
After the buffet, you request a cooked fish or seafood(shark, gambas, sole....). You can order as many as you want.....

Finally, you get a delicious french dessert!

The restaurant is based in a small town just off Bordeaux and has views of the Gironde river. You'll only be able to see the view in the day time. However, it's still much more relaxing to go in the evening, as you can always go for a walk to the river after the meal.

I really recommend this restaurant, for couples, friends and families (I don't recommend it for under 3s though as there are many stairs and adults will have their hands smelling fish all the time, so won't be able to attend to little ones easily!)

You really need a GPS , good map or a local person to find this place , even when you are with 20 mts it still looks like a factory from the outside , hidden behind an commercial cerntre 10 mins ourside Bordeaux
So we climbed the steps up to the entrance and there before us was this very open glass restaurant , floors were tired from up upper section down four tiers towards the huge glass Windows , overlooking the Garonne
Fish menu Sunday €37 and none of us could eat it all
You start with 6 oysters each served at the table ; then you help yourself to a buffet of shell fish , crab , mussels , prawns as much as you can eat
Then you can select three further fish dishes from a blackboard menu , all served at the table , just too much
Great food three of our party had been twice before , 130 covers at lunchtime with another 130 for the evening meal , they tell me it's like this every day
