“Ambiance fantastic, totally relaxing and a beautiful location.”
Reviewed 16 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We enjoyed the cosy cottage with its great views which was extremely well set-up. Its location next to the George Bass Coastal Walk allowed us to go walking in either direction along the coast and to explore the history of the coal mining days of Kilcunda. The cottage is also close to the Bass Coast Bike Trail which allowed us to have good bike rides through beautiful country in both directions - all this without having to use our vehicle. The Hotel and General Store are also within walking distance if need be. A great getaway!

“Highly Recommended”

Shanty Lane is a modern, well-equipped, spacious and light filled cottage which we found to be warm and comfortable. It was quiet and totally private and the views were simply stunning. Our stay was only for 2 nights but we wished we could have stayed longer.

We walked along the George Bass Coastal Path from right outside the cottage as far as Punchbowl Road which was a leisurely 4 hour return stroll including a short detour down to Half Moon Bay to eat our picnic lunch.

The Kilcunda pub and excellent general store & café are a pleasant 20 minute walk and even in the dark we enjoyed watching white waves crash against the rocks as we strolled over for dinner. The bistro at the pub was welcoming with good service and hearty food, and the café was an excellent spot for both lunch and coffee.

Further afield there are more dining options in San Remo (15 minute drive) and Inverloch (30 minutes). There’s also plenty to explore either down at Cape Paterson or over on Philip Island … if you can tear yourself away.

“A piece of Heaven on Earth”
Reviewed 5 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

Welcomed by black cockatoos, serenaded & entertained by swallows and wrens. Powerful falcons circling over head. Bounding bunnies leapt through the fields. Truly a stunning location a slice of Heaven on earth! A constantly changing canvas. You are at one with nature, so peaceful and relaxing! Beautiful, stylish & comfortable accommodation.

“Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location”
Reviewed 9 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Many people head straight for Phillip Island and miss the gem that is Kilcunda- situated on the Bass Highway past the Phillip Island turn off. We have been visiting for years and this cottage is a wonderful new find for us to stay in.
We stayed in the main cottage with its 2 bedrooms-it is a very well planned and appointed cottage-very comfortable-lovely and warm even in the cold weather we had-efficient heating system plus a wood burner with wood provided. Lovely extra touches and treats had been left for us making us feel very welcome.
The location is private and the coastal views and surrounding rural landscape is beautiful.
Madeline was very quick to respond to our initial booking query and was very helpful and warm throughout.
We certainly plan to visit again with our extended family.

“Romantic Retreat”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

What a wonderful find. I was taken away for a surprise birthday weekend and had the most marvellous stay at Clifftop Cottage. From the moment we stepped into the warm, immaculate, beautifully furnished cottage and looked through the windows to the cliffs and ocean, I knew we were in a special place. My favourite flowers, oriental lilies perfumed the home and there was a chilled bottle of wine. The log fire added to the charm and the spa bath with superb jet system was great after walking along the stunning cliff top track. We had a good meal at the Kilcunda Pub but next time I shall enjoy the wonderfully equipped kitchen. Clifftop Cottage is the perfect place for both a winter or summer getaway and it is close to Melbourne.
