Visited Portavadie for lunch as part of a trip to Tighnabruaich and surrounding area.
The restaurant is well laid out, clean and with lovely views of the marina - good to just sit and people watch while sipping a glass of wine in the evenings I should think!
The 3 of us were seated quickly and drinks arrived promptly however the staff seemed disorganised and it we had to ask after 20 minutes for someone to take our food order. The kitchen seemed on top of things and there were plenty of waiting staff but some of them appeared inexperienced and needed some direction to ensure they noticed and attended to customers. The head waitress (Tilly) was very efficient and was running about everywhere trying to do everything at once - I felt if she took her time and supported the other staff (who could be seen hovering uncertainly) they might all have worked better together. We noticed that other diners also had to ask for orders to be taken and chase up things too.
The food when it arrived was excellent - very fresh, portions were quite large. The hummus and roasted veg was really lovely (homemade) and the veggie curry was also very good. The pizzas also looked very fresh and crispy.
Overall we really enjoyed it but, with a bit of attention to staffing, it could be even better.More
