This is a nice marina with smart facilities and good local walks. The drying room for wet weather gear is very useful.

However our showers this morning were very chilly and a comment to the desk elicited an unsympathetic response.

For what you pay you’d expect at least hot water for you shower.

Also WiFi isn’t great sadly.

Having stayed at 3 other hotels pruor to this one the covid19 breakfast process wasnt great.
I ordered scrambled eggs as part of my breakfast and sent them back. They were the worst scrambled eggs I've ever experienced, how can a chef get something simple so wrong. I complained when I sent them back but no feedback oe apology.
It's not a cheap place to stay and I'm surprised that this was an acceptable standard.

Four stars may be slightly over generous, but there are a lot of positives to this place. We had a good time and there’s something about being by the marina and the water that is charming. We though the food in the Marina restaurant was excellent and the Covid restrictions were managed effectively. We were also lucky to get treatments in the spa which had just re-opened and both enjoyed a lovely massage. It was a shame the pool was still shut as that would have been even better. The main disappointment was the luxury townhouse apartment (LA10). The layout is great and it’s well equipped, but it’s certainly not luxury and is very much feeling its age. Seems like there has been no basic maintenance or recent decoration. Ceiling was stained from water leaks, the furniture was Travelodge style and worst of all the apartment smelt unpleasant from huge amounts of Fabreeze that had been sprayed to mask something else. Which unfortunately made two of us quite allergic. Despite that, it’s pleasant to sit out on the patio and view the water and we had a lovely sunny trip to the stunning Ostel Bay nearby. Not sure we would return.

We stayed on their newly opened camper and motor home pitches for 4 nights, dining in their restaurant twice. My wife had the langoustines each time and I had them once, the halibut the second time. This is more than just a marina. There are lodges and luxury apartments. The facilities for marina users and campers are luxurious with nice showers with gel etc supplied. At this time their spa facilities were closed due to Covid restrictions but look forward to trying them next time.

We discovered this great restaurant (which forms part of the Portavadie Marina complex) by accident, while exploring Argyll's 'Secret Coast' - the langoustines (with large helpings of salad and chips) were great and the pizza's also hit the spot nicely and the prices were very reasonable. Our large lunch, served by friendly and attentive staff, set us up nicely for the 1st leg of the Cowal Way.
